Floods surround Hue Central Hospital, urgent patient evacuation

On the evening of October 27, hundreds of military and police officers and soldiers were mobilized to help evacuate patients from lower floors to upper floors, right when the Huong River flood surrounded this hospital.

Doctors and nurses of Hue Central Hospital coordinated with military and police forces to urgently evacuate patients and equipment from lower-floor departments to higher areas to ensure safety.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, requested Hue Central Hospital to have a plan to ensure the safety of patients being treated in the face of flood and rain.

At the same time, doctors and nurses are requested to be on duty regularly, quickly move equipment, records, and books to higher places, and limit movement within the hospital grounds to ensure safety. In addition, the hospital applies information technology through the camera system to monitor when incidents occur, in order to promptly handle them.

At the same time, the flood on the Huong River exceeded the 5m mark, exceeding the alarm level 3 by 1.54m, higher than the historical floods in 2020 and 2023. The center of Hue City was submerged in water, traffic was paralyzed, and many inner-city roads were cut off.

On the same afternoon, October 27, the Hue City Military Command mobilized forces and vehicles to urgently transport 30 patients being treated at the rehabilitation hospital facility 2 to facility 1 in Hue City to ensure safety from heavy rain and floods.

Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, directly encouraged the patients as well as the support forces.

At the same time, he highly appreciated the efforts of the military force in promptly mobilizing forces and vehicles to support the patients.

On the same day, the A Luoi Area 1 Defense Command and the militia also moved 61 households/250 people in Tru Pi village to safe locations. The Military Commands of wards and communes also proactively mobilized forces and means to urgently evacuate dozens of households from dangerous areas, while providing food and provisions for the people.
