On the morning of July 23rd, Bac Ninh FC announced their new head coach, Paulo Foiani. The team, which has coach Park Hang Seo as an advisor, officially signed a contract with the Brazilian strategist to increase their competitiveness in the 2025-2026 National First Division League.
"Bac Ninh Club is honored to welcome Mr. Paulo Foiani - a talented coach from Brazil - to officially assume the role of head coach of the team. Coach Foiani is expected to bring a new lease of life to Bac Ninh in terms of tactics, playing style, and fighting spirit," Bac Ninh Club announced on its homepage.
In fact, Paulo Foiani is not a big-name coach, having only managed a few teams in the lower leagues of Brazil. He also had no notable achievements before coming to Vietnam.
Coach Paulo Foiani, born in 1976 in Brazil, is the former head coach of Hanoi Police FC in the V-League 2023. He was the first foreign coach of the police team when they joined Vietnam's top professional league. However, he was quickly sacked after only 7 matches at the start of the season.
Before appointing coach Paulo Foiani, Bac Ninh had previously hired coach Hoang Anh Tuan. However, the club quickly dismissed him after only a few matches in the 2025 Second Division.
After achieving their goal of promotion to the professional league, Bac Ninh FC proceeded to strengthen their squad by bringing in a foreign coach and recruiting higher-level players. Paulo Foiani is currently the only foreign coach in the First Division.
