On September 30, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province approved the investment project to build Dinh Khao bridge across Co Chien river, replacing the current Dinh Khao ferry. This is a key project with a total investment of more than VND 2,852 billion, implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BOT contract type.
The project has a total length of about 4.3km, of which Dinh Khao bridge over Co Chien river is more than 1.5km long, 17.5m wide with 4 lanes. The bridge - connecting road passes through Mang Thit district, Vinh Long and Cho Lach district, Ben Tre (formerly), now Nhon Phu and Phu Phung communes of Vinh Long province.
The project aims to complete and improve the exploitation capacity of National Highway 57, solve traffic congestion at Dinh Khao ferry terminal, and ensure synchronous connection with the national highway system and expressways in the area. After being put into use, the project will shorten the travel time between Vinh Long and the Mekong Delta provinces, creating a driving force for local socio -economic development.
The total investment of the project excluding interest is more than 2,761 billion VND. If the interest expense during the construction phase is included, the total investment capital is more than 2,852 billion VND. Of which, the construction cost is more than 1,645 billion VND, the compensation, support and resettlement cost is nearly 613 billion VND.
The capital structure for the project includes: State capital participation of about 1,409 billion VND (accounting for 49.4% of total capital), of which the central budget supports about 796 billion VND and Vinh Long province's budget capital is about 613 billion VND. The remaining part is arranged by the investor, about 1,442 billion VND (accounting for 50.6%).
The project is implemented under the BOT method with an expected contract period of more than 20 years. Of which, the bridge construction period is about 3 years; the toll collection period to recover capital for investors lasts nearly 18 years.
Previously, in October 2024, the Government issued a decision approving the investment policy of the Dinh Khao Bridge project under the PPP method. The People's Committee of Vinh Long province was assigned as the competent state agency to organize the implementation. The project is expected to be implemented in the period of 2024 - 2028.
