Located in Central Vietnam, Quang Nam has many potentials and strengths to develop many types of tourism . Every year, in addition to domestic tourists, the number of international tourists to Quang Nam increases.

In 2025, Quang Nam aims to welcome 8.4 million visitors (an increase of 5%), of which international visitors are estimated to reach 5.7 million. To achieve this goal, the Quang Nam tourism industry is striving to perfect green tourism products and promote tourism stimulus.

Stimulating tourism

Quang Nam is one of the typical tourist destinations of Vietnam, outstanding thanks to the harmonious combination of natural landscapes and cultural and historical values. The province owns two World Cultural Heritages recognized by UNESCO: Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary - destinations with unique historical and architectural imprints.

Along 125 km of coastline, Quang Nam has many beautiful beaches such as Thong Nhat, An Bang, Cua Dai, Binh Minh, Tam Thanh, Bien Rang... Among them, Ha My, An Bang and Cua Dai have been ranked by prestigious travel sites such as Rough Guides and CNN Go as among the most beautiful and favorite beaches in the world. In the western region, the province also possesses a rich primeval forest ecosystem with many rare species of animals and plants.

According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2024, Quang Nam welcomed more than 8 million visitors, an increase of 14% over the same period last year. Of which, the number of international visitors reached 5.5 million, accounting for more than 30% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam - an impressive number showing the great attraction of Quang Nam tourism on the international tourism map.

With the expectation that Quang Nam will continue to be the destination of choice for tourists in their journey to explore Central Vietnam tourism, Mr. Van Ba ​​Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, said that in 2025, the Quang Nam tourism industry will implement a tourism stimulus program with a total incentive value of up to 10 billion VND to attract about 8.4 million visitors and stayers.

The tourism stimulus program is divided into 2 phases, from April to August 2025 with the theme "Quang Nam - Summer Emotions" and "Quang Nam Golden Season" taking place from September to November 2025.

Quang Nam plans to organize the Hoi An international jet ski race in May, Quang Nam Culture-Sports and Tourism Week in June, Hoi An International Lantern Festival in August, Quang Noodle Festival - Intangible Cultural Heritage in September, Mid-Autumn Festival in October...

During the tourism stimulus campaign, many attractive product packages were introduced to tourists by travel agencies such as: Combo air tickets with resort, sightseeing, and entertainment services; experience of Quang Nam green tourism products, experience of "Heritage route: Hoi An-My Son-Dong Giang Heaven's Gate: Where nature meets culture," Imprint of the Ancient Town; experience program of visiting the countryside, craft villages of Hoi An Ancient Town combined with accommodation...

Notably, many tourism products are currently on sale (many products are discounted up to 50%) such as: Experience tour to explore the Bay Mau coconut forest and experience local cuisine; Tour to explore and experience the ancient pottery village along the river and the largest terracotta park in Vietnam; Tickets to see the show "Hoi An Memories", the program "Flying over the heritage" by paragliding; vacation program stay 3 pay 2; stay 2 nights, the 2nd night is 50% off...

Green destination development

With efforts to move towards green, since 2021, Quang Nam has become the first locality in the country to develop a set of green tourism criteria from 25 sets of sustainable tourism criteria globally. Quang Nam has also built a sustainable tourism environment, tourism “without plastic waste.”

In Hoi An city, since 2009, the government has launched a program to not use plastic bags in Cu Lao Cham; many hotels and accommodation establishments have used bottled water instead of plastic bottles. Achieving green criteria, destinations and tourism products and services such as: Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Temple Complex, and Co Tu community tourism are increasingly attracting high-quality visitors.

Mr. Van Ba ​​Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, said that after the COVID-19 pandemic, Quang Nam aims to build the brand "Quang Nam - Green tourism destination." Accordingly, the Quang Nam tourism industry prioritizes developing tourism products based on unique cultural resources, combined with indigenous folk cultural knowledge and the originality of natural resources to create more sustainable, greener, environmentally friendly tourism products, ensuring the safety and health of tourists.

These green tourism products are expected to create a difference and be in line with the tourism shift trend of the times. At the same time, Quang Nam also prioritizes the development of tourism types associated with agriculture and rural areas, exploiting the potential of peaceful natural spaces and enhancing the experiences of tourists.

With this direction, Quang Nam hopes to create products that can increase competitive advantage and attract tourists.

To attract more tourists to Quang Nam, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, recommended that the locality continue to promote its natural and cultural advantages, not only promoting famous destinations that attract a lot of visitors such as Hoi An Ancient Town, but also focusing on promoting the image of potential destinations such as Cu Lao Cham, My Son, traditional craft villages (lanterns, bamboo crafts, wood carving, silk villages...) or the new tourism product "Hoi An-My Son-Dong Giang Heaven Gate Heritage Route."

Quang Nam tourism businesses need to create attractive products and improve service quality, combine with neighboring localities and the North - South to build connecting tourist routes, circulate tourist flows in both directions, increase the number of domestic tourists, and at the same time expand the international tourist market to Quang Nam.

Mr. Truong Quoc Hung, Chairman of the Hanoi Unesco Travel Club, said: In addition to two world cultural heritages that are well preserved and exploited for tourism, namely Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary, in February 2025, Tra Que Vegetable Village received the award "Best Tourist Village of 2024" by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

This is a good sign for green tourism, agricultural and rural tourism in Quang Nam to continue to be loved by foreign tourists. Destinations with international brands will attract visitors to experience the services and create opportunities for other tourism products to reach the source of visitors.

Therefore, the tourism industry needs to focus on communicating about new products, while using a variety of new communication channels such as approaching through social networks: Facebook, Tiktok, celebrities (KOL).

For many years, Hoi An Ancient Town has been ranked among the most attractive destinations on the planet by many world magazines. However, because it is so famous, Hoi An is always in a state of overload.

Although the Quang Nam government and tourism industry have made efforts to change by gradually moving tourists to the suburbs and building the An Hoi area on the other side of the river, they have not been able to retain tourists due to the lack of attractive products and services.

To change the reality, visitors come to visit Hoi An Ancient Town and then return to Da Nang to stay, Quang Nam needs to develop specific tourism products to attract and retain visitors, including taking into account night activities in the ancient town and activities that attract visitors to the outskirts of Hoi An.

Besides, as the only locality that welcomes more international visitors than domestic visitors, Quang Nam needs to apply digital technology to tourism routes, form tourism products that connect destinations, enhance cultural values ​​as a lever to develop tourism and improve its position on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world.
