On August 8, the Coordination Office of the National Target Program (NTP) for New Rural Development (NRD) of Hue City in collaboration with the Hue Project - Plastic-reducing Urban Areas in Central Vietnam organized a workshop to evaluate the results of implementing environmental criteria in NRD construction.
The workshop was attended by more than 100 delegates representing the Central Office for New Rural Development Coordination, Quang Tri province, Da Nang city, experts, scientists , and representatives of 24 communes and wards in the area.
The workshop focused on comprehensively assessing the implementation of environmental criteria in the period of 2021 - 2025, especially criteria 17.6 - solid waste collection and treatment rate, 17.7 - rate of households using clean water, 17.11 - bright - green - clean - beautiful landscape environment, 17.12 - natural disaster and climate change prevention. These are fundamental criteria in building a new rural area in a modern, sustainable direction, adapting to climate change and protecting the living environment for rural people.
At the workshop, DA Hue - Plastic-reducing urban area in Central Vietnam shared many practical models to reduce plastic waste in residential areas, schools, and communities, while supporting localities to effectively implement environmental criteria in the new rural development program.

In addition to the overview and thematic reports, the workshop also devoted a large amount of time to discussion sessions and presentations from representatives of communes, wards, experts and related businesses. The discussion focused on existing problems in implementing environmental criteria, solutions to improve the quality of rural environmental infrastructure, as well as community initiatives and inter-sectoral coordination.
The workshop is also an opportunity to review the implementation results of the 2021 - 2025 period, and at the same time discuss and propose orientations and solutions for implementing environmental criteria for the next period, ensuring compliance with local realities, promoting the role of the community and strengthening links between agencies and organizations. This is not only an opportunity to summarize and review the process of implementing environmental criteria in building new rural areas, but also contributes to promoting initiatives for sustainable development, reducing plastic waste pollution, and improving the quality of life for people.
The National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period in the city has achieved remarkable changes. Typically, the number of communes meeting New Rural standards is in Quang Dien district (old) with 11 model villages (accounting for 65% of the whole city), creating a strong change in the New Rural Construction movement. Rural infrastructure has been invested synchronously, meeting people's needs. Poverty reduction and temporary housing elimination have achieved remarkable results, especially in A Luoi district (old) and Nam Dong district (now Phu Loc). |
