Downward trend, export rice prices remain stable

On October 1, 2024, the rice price market today continued to record a slight downward trend, mainly concentrated in the Mekong Delta region. Meanwhile, Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable compared to yesterday.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, rice prices today have not fluctuated much compared to yesterday. Popular rice varieties such as IR 50404, Dai Thom 8, OM 5451, OM 18, OM 380, and Japanese rice still maintain stable purchase prices, fluctuating between 7,200 - 8,000 VND/kg. Notably, Nang Nhen rice (dry) is still traded at the highest level, 28,000 VND/kg.

However, in the Mekong Delta region, rice prices decreased slightly today. In Soc Trang and Dong Thap, the rice market is quite quiet, with few buyers and not many transactions, especially for bad rice. An Giang also recorded a similar situation with rice prices decreasing slightly.

IR 504 Summer-Autumn raw rice is currently priced at VND9,700 - 9,800/kg, down VND500 compared to yesterday. IR 504 finished rice is also down in price, currently at VND12,200 - 12,400/kg.

The by-product market also has some minor fluctuations. The prices of by-products are currently ranging from 5,950 to nearly 10,000 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is currently decreasing, ranging from 9,500 - 9,600 VND/kg, down 100 - 400 VND. The price of dry bran also increased slightly, with the new price from 6,000 - 6,100 VND/kg, up 50 VND. Meanwhile, the price of sticky rice has not changed compared to yesterday. Long An IR 4625 sticky rice (dry) is priced from 9,500 to 9,700 VND/kg, and the price of Long An 3-month sticky rice (dry) is from 9,800 to 10,000 VND/kg.

At retail markets, the prices of individual rice products have not fluctuated much. Rice varieties such as Nang Nhen, Jasmine, Nang Hoa, regular rice, and long-grain fragrant rice are still listed at prices ranging from 15,000 to 28,000 VND/kg. Japanese rice still has the highest price, reaching 22,000 VND/kg.

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable today compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 100% broken rice remained at $454/ton, 5% standard rice at $562/ton, and 25% broken rice at $530/ton.

In general, the domestic rice market is showing a slight downward trend, mainly in the Mekong Delta region. Vietnam's rice export prices are currently stable. However, it should be noted that rice prices may vary depending on time and region.
