7 'death holes' appear, Bac Kan declares emergency situation regarding natural disasters - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television

On May 14, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province decided to declare a natural disaster emergency regarding the sinkhole phenomenon in Kim Lu commune, Na Ri district.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province requested Na Ri district and specialized agencies to use materials such as soil, rock, and concrete to fill sinkholes; monitor subsidence phenomena, promptly detect signs, and delimit dangerous areas; proactively evacuate and relocate people from dangerous areas if any; arrange accommodation and ensure logistics for people at evacuation sites.

The People's Committee of Bac Kan province also requested specialized sectors to work with the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources to develop a project to assess the cause of subsidence and implement remediation after determining the cause.

In addition, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province requested Na Ri district and specialized agencies to have a proactive plan to evacuate people and property, and have initial emergency solutions to ensure safety for affected households. In case it exceeds the capacity of the locality, report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.

Previously, from March 24 to May 1, 7 consecutive sinkholes appeared in Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune, Na Ri district.

This phenomenon directly threatens the safety of life and property of people in the area (around the subsidence area there are 21 households, 92 people in Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune and about 12 hectares of agricultural land).
