According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), by the end of the 2024-2025 crop year (from October 2024 to September 2025), Vietnam's coffee exports reached over 1.5 million tons, earning more than 8.4 billion USD; an increase of 1.8% in volume and 55.5% in value compared to the 2023-2024 crop year. This is also the highest coffee export value ever recorded in a crop year.

Coffee exports for the 2024-2025 crop year are expected to grow significantly thanks to high coffee prices, averaging US$5,610 per ton, a 52.7% increase compared to the previous crop year. In the first nine months of 2025 alone, Vietnam is projected to export approximately 1.25 million tons of coffee, generating over US$7 billion in export revenue, representing an 11.7% increase in volume and a 62.2% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Regarding export markets, according to the Vietnam Customs Department, besides the quantity currently in bonded warehouses, in the past 2024-2025 coffee crop year, Germany led with a purchase volume of 196,259 tons (accounting for 13%), followed by Italy with 124,766 tons (8.3%), Spain with 110,224 tons (7.3%); and then Japan, the United States, Algeria, etc.

Thus, Europe remains the largest market for Vietnamese coffee exports, with a volume of over 710,000 tons (accounting for 47.2%) and a value of over 4 billion USD (accounting for 46.7%).

For the 2025-2026 crop year, production is projected to increase by approximately 10% thanks to favorable weather conditions and high domestic prices (ranging from 115,000 VND/kg), encouraging farmers to invest in and replant with new, high-yielding varieties.

Vicofa aims to develop a sustainable coffee supply chain, linked to emission reduction and carbon credits, while building the Vietnamese Robusta coffee brand and establishing international quality standards for specialty products.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung, Vietnam maintains its position as the world's second-largest coffee exporter, accounting for nearly 20% of global supply, with an average yield of 3 tons/ha, three times higher than the world average. However, the industry still needs to overcome limitations in deep processing (only 15%), production linkages, and adaptation to climate change.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will support the standardization of traceability, emission reduction, expansion of processing, and diversification of export markets, aiming for the development of high-quality, sustainable, and value-added Vietnamese coffee.
