Yen Son (Tuyen Quang): Diversify forms of poverty reduction information for people

Being provided with full information and acquiring knowledge, people in Yen Son district (Tuyen Quang province) have reduced information poverty. Implementing the National Target Program (NTP) for sustainable poverty reduction in the period of 2021-2025, with the goal of reducing information poverty for people, in recent times, the authorities at all levels of Yen Son district have made efforts to implement information solutions, invest in building telecommunications infrastructure systems, smart broadcasting infrastructure, promote propaganda work, so that poverty reduction policies can be implemented in life promptly and fully. Thereby, helping the poor grasp information, policies and learn good models and good practices, thereby raising awareness and determination to rise out of poverty.

However, since the commune's loudspeaker system was invested and built, her family has been able to easily access information. The National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025, the local information and telecommunications technology radio station has well met the information needs of the people. Every day, Dao Vien commune radio station broadcasts at fixed times (from 5:30 - 7:30 am and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm) to serve the people in the area.

Mr. Tran Van Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dao Vien Commune, Yen Son District, said: Previously, propaganda was mainly carried out through conferences, meetings or mobile propaganda, so the frequency and effectiveness were not high. Since the establishment of the Radio Station applying information technology - telecommunications, everything has become much easier and more convenient. The Radio Station has contributed to positive changes in the propaganda work of the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws to the people in the area.

Along with investment in infrastructure for the radio broadcasting system in communes and towns, in 2023, the Yen Son District Culture, Communication and Sports Center organized 15 training courses to improve the professional qualifications of the team of commune cultural officials and information officers in villages and hamlets who directly operate loudspeaker clusters, produce and rebroadcast radio programs. But above all, this team also constantly learns and improves their qualifications, meeting the requirements of the assigned work, contributing to bringing timely information to the people.

It can be said that “eliminating information hunger” is one of the pillars to create consensus among the masses. From there, the emulation movements in production, building new rural areas, and eliminating hunger and reducing poverty are actively promoted.

In addition to information, access to 3G, 4G, and 5G telecommunications systems also helps people share information with each other and find markets for their agricultural products.

Diversify forms of information poverty reduction

Digital transformation is considered a solid foundation for the work of "eliminating information hunger" for people in disadvantaged areas. In Yen Son district, digital transformation has been built by the District People's Committee into the Project "Raising awareness, popularizing skills and developing human resources for national digital transformation by 2025, with a vision to 2030". Accordingly, the district aims to popularize digital skills to help people and businesses access digital knowledge and skills, to participate in the digital transformation process and create human resources, to carry out digital transformation...

According to Ms. Ly Thi Thu Hang, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Trung Minh Commune (Yen Son District), in reality, the number of people who know and use public services in the commune is still modest, the implementation of operations on smartphones is not good, many people still have the mentality of going to the commune to solve the problem "for sure", leading to the effectiveness of digital transformation not being as expected. In some communes in the district, in order for people to know and use administrative procedures on cyberspace, commune officials have to do two things, both receiving paper documents and files, and at the same time "holding hands and showing people how to do operations on smartphones" in the style of "slow and steady wins the race"...

To achieve the goal of information poverty reduction, and at the same time solve current difficulties and shortcomings, according to the plan, in the coming time, authorities at all levels and localities in Yen Son district will continue to be determined to remove "bottlenecks" in implementing digital transformation, such as: Continuing to train and improve the capacity of officials working on poverty reduction at all levels; organizing training for officials and civil servants on professional skills, skills in organizing and implementing, inspecting and supervising programs and projects supporting information poverty reduction under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction.

In addition, strengthen the facilities and content for the activities of grassroots radio stations, especially in communes with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, to provide essential information to people about knowledge, skills, models, and experiences in labor, production and business; communicate to raise awareness and responsibility of the whole society and the poor in sustainable poverty reduction.

In particular, Yen Son will promote solutions to build and develop digital government, digital economy, and digital society; prioritize solutions to transform awareness and build shared platforms for the entire district; focus on developing digital infrastructure; continue to strongly transform state management activities from traditional methods to information technology applications.
