184 prisoners had their prison sentences reduced during the Lunar New Year

This morning, February 6, at Nghia An Prison (located in Cam Chinh commune, Cam Lo district), Chief Justice of the Provincial People's Court, Chairman of the Provincial Prison Sentence Reduction Council Le Hong Quang chaired a meeting to consider reducing the term of serving prison sentences for prisoners serving sentences at Nghia An Prison (under the Ministry of Public Security ) and the Provincial Police Detention Center on the occasion of the Lunar New Year - 2024.

At the meeting, the Provincial Council for Review of Reduction of Prison Sentences reviewed the files of 563 prisoners serving prison sentences at Nghia An Prison and the Provincial Police Detention Center.

Through reviewing the records, the Provincial Council for considering reduction of prison sentences found that all prisoners considered for reduction this time were repentant, reformed, and strictly followed discipline, rules, and regulations set out during their sentence.

After reaching a consensus, the Provincial Council for Review of Prison Sentence Reduction decided to reduce the prison sentence by 1-24 months for 563 prisoners, of which 184 prisoners had their prison sentence reduced to the full extent so they could reintegrate into the community.

This is the humane policy of the Party and the law of the State for those who have made mistakes but have repented. At the same time, it creates conditions for prisoners to quickly reintegrate into the community, live a useful life for their families and society; and create a ripple effect for other prisoners to strive and work well to enjoy the lenient policy of the Party and State in the next reductions of prison terms.

On the same afternoon, the Provincial People's Court coordinated with Nghia An Prison to organize a ceremony to announce the decision to reduce the term of serving prison sentences during the Lunar New Year - 2024 and to disseminate the law on criminal execution to prisoners. Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Hoang Duc Thang attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, the organizing committee announced the decision to reduce the prison sentence for 379 prisoners, especially announced and awarded the decision to reduce the entire prison sentence for 184 prisoners to help them reintegrate into the community.

On this occasion, Nghia An Prison presented 103 gifts to prisoners in difficult circumstances; the Provincial People's Court Youth Union coordinated with the Youth Union of the Office of the Investigation Police Agency - Provincial Police to propagate the law on criminal execution to prisoners and presented 20 gifts to prisoners in difficult circumstances serving their sentences at Nghia An Prison.
