20 years journey of building and growing

Established in 2004, the Department of Information and Communications of Phu Tho province was born in the context of the country's strong economic integration. From the early days with many difficulties and lack of facilities, human resources and experience, the Department has gradually affirmed its role in state management of information, communications and information technology.

Over the past 20 years, the Department of Information and Communications has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a series of important mechanisms and policies to build and develop a synchronous and modern information and communication infrastructure. Long-term strategies such as the Postal and Telecommunications Development Plan, the Digital Transformation Project of Phu Tho Province to 2025, vision 2030, or the E-Government Development Plan have laid the foundation for the province's strong transformation.

Imprints in digital infrastructure development

One of the outstanding achievements of the Department of Information and Communications in the past 20 years is the development of postal - telecommunications and digital infrastructure. To date, Phu Tho has covered 98% of villages and hamlets with mobile broadband; 100% of state administrative agencies are connected to the wide area network (WAN); the local data system is integrated with the National Data Center, facilitating the storage and sharing of information.

The Department of Information and Communications is also a pioneer in promoting telecommunications enterprises to deploy 4G and 5G technology in key areas. Thanks to that, the Internet speed in the province has reached high standards, meeting the needs of developing the digital economy, digital society and building digital government.

Promoting digital transformation and building e-government

Since 2015, Phu Tho has begun implementing digital transformation programs under the leadership of the Department of Information and Communications. The Phu Tho e-Government Project has achieved many positive results, with 100% of state agencies applying document management software, digital signatures and electronic one-stop systems. The province's online public service portal has provided more than 1,800 level 3 and 4 online public services, helping people and businesses easily access administrative procedures.

Recently, with the orientation of transforming from e-government to digital government, the Department of Information and Communications continues to develop technology platforms such as open data, artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), and at the same time coordinates to build the Phu Tho Provincial Digital Data Center to improve data management and operation capacity.

Achievements in the field of journalism and media

The Department of Information and Communications also plays an important role in press and media management. Over the past 20 years, the Department has developed a network of press agencies, ensuring smooth information flow from the provincial to grassroots levels. Many communication campaigns on disease prevention, digital transformation, and national sovereignty protection have been effectively implemented, contributing to raising public awareness and spreading the image of Phu Tho throughout the country.

Digital information channels such as the province's website, fanpage and mobile application have been strongly developed, becoming important tools in propaganda, promotion and connection with the community.

Towards a sustainable future

With the achievements, the Department of Information and Communications of Phu Tho province aims to continue comprehensive development in the period of 2025-2030. In particular, focusing on building a synchronous digital infrastructure, 5G coverage throughout the province; promoting digital transformation in the fields of economy, education, health and agriculture; at the same time, improving the capacity of state management of information and communications, contributing to making Phu Tho a leading province in digital technology in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

Looking back over the 20-year journey, the Department of Information and Communications of Phu Tho province has left many strong marks in the development of the province.
