By late afternoon on July 20th, 19 people had been hospitalized, including both men and women, aged 54 to 84 (all residing in Phong Dinh ward, Hue City).
Upon examination, doctors diagnosed all 19 patients with acute gastroenteritis due to food poisoning. One elderly female patient is in septic shock and is being closely monitored in the Intensive Care Unit, exhibiting slow responsiveness, intermittent abdominal pain, and fatigue.
Initially, the patients' families stated that the dishes served at the party were prepared by restaurant X.D. The menu included: jellyfish and shrimp salad, steamed squid, grilled chicken, grouper hot pot, and yogurt. Most of the hospitalized patients had already eaten all the dishes.
Immediately after learning of the incident, the Hue City health department ordered the collection of samples from several patients for testing to determine the cause. At the same time, they directed the Food Safety Department, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Phong Dien Health Center to coordinate the investigation and verification of the incident.
