The first restaurants in Vietnam to receive Michelin stars are Anan Saigon (HCMC), Gia ( Hanoi ), Hibana by Koki (Hanoi) and Tam Vi (Hanoi).

Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of MICHELIN Guide, said that the restaurants receiving stars in Vietnam this time have been carefully assessed based on global standards over many years. "That means the quality of stars of restaurants around the world is equal, the stars awarded to restaurants in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City are the same as those awarded in London or Paris."

The first 4 Vietnamese restaurants receive Michelin stars.

Restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were selected by Michelin this time based on 5 main criteria: food quality, culinary techniques, flavor balance, chef personality, and sustainability and consistency over time.

Among the 103 selected restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, in addition to Michelin-starred restaurants, there are 70 restaurants in the Michelin Selected category (Michelin recommended restaurants), with 32 restaurants in Hanoi and 38 restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City; 29 restaurants in the Bib Gourmand category (good eateries at affordable prices), with 13 restaurants in Hanoi and 16 restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, 3 outstanding individuals received special awards from Michelin Guide (MICHELIN Guide Special Awards), including wine expert Yu Yamamoto from Lua restaurant receiving the Sommelier Award, staff Nguyen Thi Nu from Vietnam House restaurant receiving the Service Award, and chef Sam Tran from Gia restaurant receiving the Young Chef Award.

Experts believe that with the presence of the Michelin Guide, the efforts of chefs and those working in the culinary industry throughout Vietnam, in the near future Vietnam will be a classy culinary destination that every international tourist needs to visit once in their lifetime./.
