What is special about the 50 teachers receiving the Vo Truong Toan Award from Ho Chi Minh City this year?

On November 7, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the list of 50 outstanding teachers receiving the Vo Truong Toan Award in 2025.

Vo Truong Toan is a prestigious award of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, presented annually on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day to honor outstanding teachers. Each individual awarded the Vo Truong Toan Award will receive a certificate of merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The award is only given once during the working period.

In particular, the Vo Truong Toan Award 2025 is the first year that the Department of Education and Training has selected and awarded outstanding teachers in the three regions of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong , and Ra Ria - Vung Tau (old) after the merger.

Specifically, in region 1 (formerly Ho Chi Minh City), there were 38 outstanding teachers, in region 2 (formerly Binh Duong) and region 3 (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau ), there were 12 outstanding teachers receiving awards on this occasion.

According to Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the 50 outstanding teachers mentioned above were selected from 227 individuals nominated by educational institutions to participate in the Vo Truong Toan Award. Of which, preschool level has 48 profiles, primary school: 57, middle school: 63, high school: 35 and continuing education system, culture-social department: 24.

Accordingly, teachers and managers nominated for the Vo Truong Toan Award in 2025 must meet the following conditions: Having worked in the education sector for at least 15 years (in special cases, there must be an accompanying explanation), being exemplary in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and regulations of the sector; Seriously implementing the rules and regulations of the agency, unit, organization, and locality where they reside; having a spirit of self-study and creativity; Having good moral qualities, being dedicated to the teaching profession; having many contributions to the city's education and training sector; being a pioneer in innovating educational management, teaching methods, testing and evaluation...

In particular, managers must ensure the following conditions: Having results in performing tasks of the collective led and managed by the individual at least 5 times, achieving the title of Excellent Labor Collective; not allowing unresolved complaints or prolonged complaints to occur in the unit.

The principles of awarding awards ensure accuracy and objectivity in judging and honoring outstanding individuals based on specific criteria; at the same time, ensure honesty, democracy, publicity, fairness, correct subjects, correct standards through records and evidence.

The 2025 Vo Truong Toan Award Ceremony is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of November 19.
