An Giang: Adjusting planning to make a breakthrough and become a national marine economic center

On the evening of November 17, at Phu Quoc special zone, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung chaired a meeting to listen to the report on the adjustment of the An Giang Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 and the focus and development orientation of Phu Quoc special zone in the planning adjustment in the coming time. Also attending were Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and Ngo Cong Thuc.

At the meeting, the Department of Finance reported on the progress of implementing the adjustment of the An Giang Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050; the consulting unit presented the master plan of An Giang province, assessed the current situation, identified priority sectors and development orientations.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung acknowledged that the consulting unit had actively implemented the task, achieved initial results, pointed out the strengths, weaknesses and development potential of Phu Quoc. At the same time, he welcomed the contributions of the provincial departments, branches and sectors and Phu Quoc special zone.

Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Ho Van Mung, requested the Department of Finance to coordinate with the consulting unit to continue the research, based on the principles of inheritance, innovation, breakthrough, and synchronization. In particular, it is noted that the planning must highlight the strategic orientation for developing An Giang province into a strong maritime economic center of the country.

In addition, research the border gate economy; make detailed plans with clear time and products; organize seminars inviting leading planning experts to advise and debate; collect opinions from ministries, branches and localities. Ensure consistency and compliance with the law. The Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinates with the Department of Finance to link the implementation of the general planning with land use planning.

Regarding outstanding policies, according to Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung, they need to be studied and divided into three groups: one is the group of outstanding policies in the world that are suitable for implementation in An Giang province; two is the most outstanding policies of provinces, cities and localities that can be applied in An Giang province; three is the group of new policies...

According to the report of the Department of Finance, in performing assigned tasks, the unit has proactively coordinated and issued many documents to departments, branches and localities to carry out preparations on procedures for adjusting the provincial planning.

The Provincial People's Committee has issued a Decision to establish a Steering Committee and Working Group to adjust the An Giang Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, and a Plan to implement the adjustment of the An Giang Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
