On December 2, in Malaysia, the West Lake Golden Buffalo Dragon Boat Team, three-time champions of the Hanoi Dragon Boat Championship, participated in the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival, a prestigious tournament that is being held for the 44th time.

Participating in this Penang International Dragon Boat Festival, Vietnam has the West Lake Golden Buffalo Dragon Boat Team with 16 athletes participating in 2 events: Tug of war by rowing on a boat, and the main event of boat racing on the river.
The event is organized by the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival Committee (PIDBF) of Malaysia and takes place at Teluk Bahang Dam in Penang. This is a beautiful location and the event is considered a festival, because the criteria are unity, fun and health, so it is highly supported by the Penang State Government.
This year, the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival has 80 teams from 21 countries and territories. Among them are strong teams such as: England, Italy, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), mainland China, Korea, Singapore...
Sharing over the phone with The World & Vietnam, Captain of the West Lake Golden Buffalo Dragon Boat Racing Team Vu Ngoc Hung said: "Although West Lake Golden Buffalo is an amateur team consisting mostly of office workers with a passion for sports , the team has also won the Hanoi Dragon Boat Championship 3 times. This year, the team participated with the desire to exchange with international teams to enhance their love for dragon boating as well as experience and learn from other teams. The team has prepared for about a year for this tournament."
On December 2, the Vietnamese delegation competed in the event: Tug of war by rowing on a boat.
The Penang International Dragon Boat Festival takes place on December 2-3, 2023. Tomorrow, the teams will enter the main competition events.
