Arsenal continued to assert their position as the "Emirates fortress" when they defeated Brentford 2-0, extending their unbeaten streak at home in the Premier League this season (7 wins, 1 draw). Meanwhile, the away team Brentford continued to struggle away from home with only one win since the beginning of the season (6 losses).
Entering December with a tight schedule, coach Mikel Arteta rotated the squad but Arsenal still entered the game proactively. In the 11th minute, the talented young duo Noni Madueke and Ben White coordinated well, creating conditions for Mikel Merino to head the ball into the ground to open the score.

The early goal helped Arsenal play more comfortably. Madueke then had a chance to double the lead but could not beat goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. Brentford also had a dangerous response when Kevin Schade headed against the crossbar of David Raya's goal.
Despite Brentford slowly regaining control of the game, Arsenal still created many chances before the break. Rico Henry made two excellent saves to keep out Madueke's shots, keeping the score at 1-0.
After the break, Brentford continued to play confidently. The appearance of Brentford striker Igor Thiago made the atmosphere at the Emirates tense. Immediately, Arteta brought on Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka, helping Arsenal regain control. Riccardo Calafiori and Declan Rice repeatedly tested Kelleher with long-range shots, and Merino almost increased the score.
Arsenal's relentless pressure finally paid off. Kelleher saved Calafiori's shot and Saka's rebound, but the England winger made amends when he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and slotted home in stoppage time to seal a 2-0 win for Arsenal.

The win kept Arsenal five points clear at the top of the table, while also extending their impressive run of form in the Premier League with just one defeat in 14 games (10 wins, 3 draws). Arteta also extended his unbeaten run against Brentford to nine games (7 wins, 2 draws). Brentford, meanwhile, have continued their poor run of form in London derbies, with just four wins in their last 24 games (6 draws, 13 losses).
