On June 9, the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province said it had reported to the Provincial People's Committee about the suspected leak of 10th grade entrance exam questions for the 2023-2024 school year.

Accordingly, the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2023-2024 school year in Kon Tum province was held from June 2 to 4 with 6,659 candidates taking the exam in three subjects: literature, math and English.
On the afternoon of June 2, candidates took the 60-minute English exam. That same evening, information about the leaked English exam appeared on social media, along with a photocopied version that had similar content to the exam.
On the morning of June 4, the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province worked with the teachers who created the English exam questions. At the meeting, teacher Pham Thi Huong (Nguyen Hue Secondary School, Kon Tum City) admitted to being involved in the above incident.
Specifically, there was a student named H. (grade 9, Nguyen Hue Secondary School) who was taking extra classes at Mrs. Huong's house. During the extra classes, this student took a photo of the exam from Mrs. Huong's printer. Mrs. Huong admitted her mistake in letting the student take a photo of the draft exam and affirmed that she did not copy or take photos of the exam for the student.
Through working with the exam officials, the Kon Tum Department of Education and Training determined that each time an exam was issued, a draft was printed. The leaked copy was the final unified draft, differing only by one question from the official exam. This final draft was given to Ms. Huong for safekeeping.
From there, the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province determined that the above incident was a leaked draft of the exam, not the official exam.
After the incident, Kon Tum Provincial Police also started an investigation. However, the extent of the exam leak has not yet been determined. Currently, the police are reviewing information on social networks and coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications to promptly handle it appropriately.
Based on the investigation results of the Provincial Police, based on the scope of influence, the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province has proposed 2 options to advise the Provincial People's Committee on adjusting the 10th grade enrollment plan for the 2023-2024 school year.
Option 1: In case of small-scale leaking of the general English exam, the Department of Education and Training will propose to cancel the results of the above students and handle them according to regulations, while still using the general English exam results to consider admission.
Option 2: In case of large-scale leaking of the general English exam, the Department of Education and Training will propose to cancel the English exam results in the entire province, based on the exam scores of two subjects: math and literature and the study results of 4 years of junior high school to consider admission.
