Accordingly, from the night of October 28 to the early morning of October 29, on Lo Xo Pass, there were heavy rains, many locations on the pass continued to have landslides, causing traffic jams. From 3 landslide locations on October 28, many other locations have now appeared. For example, locations Km 1409+300, Km 1415+800, Km 1415+950, Km 1422, Km 1425 had landslides, causing traffic jams. Particularly for location Km 1408+900, which had a landslide on October 28 with a volume of up to 20,000 m3 of earth and rock, the authorities handled and cleared the road on the night of October 28, but due to heavy rain, it has now collapsed again, with a volume of up to thousands of m3. The road management unit is concentrating vehicles, machinery, and equipment to handle and clear the route.
“We are mobilizing vehicles and human resources to the scene to urgently fix the landslide. Currently, there are 12 excavators and loaders to deploy to clear the route, from Km 1425 to Km 1408. We will try to clear the route as soon as possible to ensure traffic safety,” added a representative of Kon Tum Road Management and Repair Company.

Meanwhile, the work of providing food, foodstuffs and necessities to drivers stranded on the pass is also facing many difficulties. Mr. Ho Dac Dien, SOS team of Lo Xo Pass, said that there were many landslides on Lo Xo Pass, making it impossible for the team to access the scene and provide food and water to the drivers.
“We brought food and water up, but now the rain is so heavy on the pass, there are more landslides, rocks and soil are spilling onto the road, so we cannot reach the area where the drivers are stuck. The team is currently trying to guide the drivers to walk to the nearest food stores to buy food and water. With the current heavy rain, drones cannot fly,” said Mr. Ho Dac Dien.

According to VNA reporters, as of 10 a.m. on October 29, heavy rain was still falling in the Lo Xo Pass area. The risk of landslides remains very high. Authorities have issued warnings to residents and vehicles to absolutely not go up the pass at this time to avoid unfortunate damage.
