Accordingly, from the night of October 28th to the early morning of October 29th, heavy rain on Lo Xo Pass caused further landslides in many locations, blocking the road. From the three landslide locations on October 28th, many more have now appeared. For example, landslides at Km 1409+300, Km 1415+800, Km 1415+950, Km 1422, and Km 1425 have blocked the road. Specifically, at Km 1408+900, which experienced a landslide on October 28th with a volume of up to 20,000 m3 of soil and rocks, authorities managed to clear the road that night. However, due to heavy rain, another landslide has occurred, involving thousands of m3 of earth and rocks. The road management unit is currently mobilizing vehicles, machinery, and equipment to clear the road and reopen the route.
“We are mobilizing vehicles and personnel to the scene to urgently address the landslide. Currently, we have 12 excavators and bulldozers deployed to clear the road from Km 1425 to Km 1408. We are striving to reopen the road as soon as possible, ensuring traffic safety,” a representative from the Kon Tum Road Management and Repair Company added.

Meanwhile, efforts to provide food, supplies, and other necessities to drivers stranded on the pass are also facing many difficulties. Ho Dac Dien, from the Lo Xo Pass SOS Team, said that numerous landslides have occurred on the Lo Xo Pass, preventing the team from accessing the scene and delivering food and water to the drivers.
“We brought food and water, but currently, the rain on the pass is too heavy, and there are more landslides, with rocks and soil spilling onto the road, making it impossible to reach the area where the drivers are stranded. The team is currently trying to guide the drivers on foot to the nearest food and water vendors. With the heavy rain, even the drones can't fly,” said Mr. Ho Dac Dien.

According to a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter, as of 10:00 AM on October 29th, heavy rain was still falling in the Lo Xo Pass area. The risk of landslides remains very high. Authorities have issued warnings to residents and vehicles, advising them to absolutely avoid going up the pass at this time to prevent unfortunate damage.
