Journey to discover Hai Phong cuisine
On his first trip to Vietnam, Nick, an American YouTuber with nearly 300,000 followers on his personal channel, had memorable experiences in Hai Phong . Following a friend's recommendation, he went to a sidewalk crab noodle shop on Tran Phu Street and was quickly conquered by this famous specialty.
The dish not only made a strong impression on Nick but is also the pride of local cuisine, having been in the Top 100 Vietnamese specialties (2020-2021) and was honored by TasteAtlas in the list of "100 dishes with the best broth in the world " in 2025.

What makes a bowl of sidewalk crab noodle soup so appealing?
Nick's first impression of the restaurant nestled in a small alley was the typical local style with simple plastic tables and chairs. Although it was a sidewalk restaurant, he was surprised by the clean space, with trays of ingredients neatly arranged in glass cabinets. "In Vietnam, any restaurant located in an alley, I'm almost sure it will have delicious food," Nick shared.
A bowl full of quality toppings
When the mixed crab noodle soup was brought out, Nick was surprised by its fullness. The bowl was heavy, filled with attractive fillings such as shrimp, grilled pork with lolot leaves, fried fish, fish cakes and mantis shrimp.

Unforgettable broth flavor
Right from the first spoonful of broth, the YouTuber continuously nodded in approval. He commented: "The broth is delicious, clear, naturally sweet, with the smell of field crab." Fatty crab fat, rich fish cake, big and chewy rice noodles, all blend together to create an unforgettable culinary experience.

Reasonable prices and friendliness
At only 35,000 VND for a quality meal, Nick felt extremely satisfied. He thought this was one of the best dishes he had ever enjoyed. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the restaurant owner also contributed to creating a beautiful memory of his trip.
