Is cheap motorbike insurance 15,000 VND recognized?

Motorcycle insurance is a document that must be carried when participating in traffic. Motorcycle insurance must be purchased by the vehicle owner and meet the conditions of validity (not expired). Article 58 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law stipulates as follows:

Article 58. Conditions for drivers participating in traffic

2. Drivers must carry the following documents when operating a vehicle:

a) Vehicle registration;

b) Driving license for motor vehicle drivers as prescribed in Article 59 of this Law;

c) Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection inspection for motor vehicles specified in Article 55 of this Law;

d) Certificate of civil liability insurance of motor vehicle owner.

Thus, buying motorbike insurance is mandatory. However, there are many different types of insurance on the market today, sometimes causing confusion, leading to unnecessary damage.

Specifically, there are two types of insurance being offered on the market, including:

- Compulsory civil liability insurance of motor vehicle owners;

- Voluntary insurance.

It must be affirmed that the cheap insurance of only 15,000 VND currently being sold on the market is a legal type of insurance. However, from the perspective of being a mandatory document when participating in traffic, this insurance does not meet the requirements because this is only a type of insurance based on the voluntary (additional purchase) of the vehicle owner. The vehicle owner is required to purchase an insurance type with a price of 66,000 VND (Compulsory civil liability insurance of motor vehicle owners) before purchasing this voluntary insurance.

Cheap voluntary insurance is meaningful in helping to increase compensation in case of unfortunate collisions or traffic accidents, along with the compensation responsibility when purchasing insurance of 66,000 VND.

On the contrary, the Traffic Police will only check and care about whether the vehicle owner has purchased compulsory civil liability insurance or not, and will not need to present information about purchasing the above-mentioned voluntary low-cost insurance.
