The Journalists and Public Opinion newspaper receives the Contribution Award at the 2024 Press Cup.

(CLO) After three days of exciting and intense competition with great matches and beautiful goals on the pitch of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Youth Football Training Center, the closing ceremony, awards presentation, and Gala of the 8th National Press Cup Football Tournament 2024 took place in Hanoi on the evening of November 30th.

Attending the closing ceremony and awards presentation of the Press Cup 2024 Final Round were Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , and Head of the Press Cup 2024 Steering Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, former Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Deputy Head of the Press Cup 2024 Steering Committee.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Head of the Steering Committee for the Press Cup 2024, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the closing ceremony and awards gala, Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Head of the Steering Committee of the Press Cup 2024 - extended his congratulations to the nine teams that had completed their matches and congratulated the new champion of the Press Cup 2024 - FC Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

Having gone through 8 seasons held in many provinces and cities from South to North, Mr. Le Quoc Minh highly appreciated the Vietnam Family Magazine for its efforts, perseverance, proactiveness, and creativity in maintaining and creating a meaningful playground for media organizations, especially in the context of the difficult economic situation facing the press.

"I believe that in any profession or job, colleagues need to be close, connected, and supportive of each other. Journalism is no exception, as we meet through football and the Press Cup to further strengthen our bonds, work together, and develop as a whole."

Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Mr. Dang Khac Loi - Deputy Director of the Press Department, and Mr. Ho Minh Chien - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine, presented the gold medal and the Press Cup 2024 championship trophy to FC VOV.

Also at the closing ceremony and awards gala, journalist Ho Minh Chien - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine, Head of the Organizing Committee of Press Cup 2024 - emphasized that football is a competitive sport, and every participating team wants to win, score goals, and win the cup, but there is something even more important: they want to play beautifully and with dedication.

That is the message, the core value that the Press Cup – the national football tournament for media organizations – has been striving for over the years.

This year, the competition holds even greater significance as journalists are striving to achieve many accomplishments to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025). And, the Press Cup 2024 can be seen as the opening event for a series of cultural and sporting activities leading up to this grand celebration.

“We believe that over the past three days, the nine teams have had memorable experiences at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi. The 8th Press Cup witnessed many beautiful goals, exciting plays, and impressive images that will leave behind unforgettable memories for journalists,” shared the Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Press Cup.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association (9th from the left), Mr. Nguyen Gia Hung - Deputy Director of the Press and Publishing Department, Central Propaganda Department (3rd from the left), and Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh - Deputy Head of the Communications Department of Agribank (6th from the left) presented the Second Prize to the Military Radio and Television Center FC.

Accordingly, with 12 exciting and intense matches featuring thrilling plays and spectacular, high-quality goals, FC VOV has been crowned champions of the Press Cup 2024.

Despite their best efforts, FC Military Broadcasting Center lacked luck in the penalty shootout and were eliminated by FC VOV, ultimately finishing in second place.

The two teams, FC Life and Society Journalists Club (Ho Chi Minh City) and FC Rural Today/Dan Viet Newspaper, shared third place.

The teams from Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television (VTV), Vietnam News Agency Club, and Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper all received the Contribution Award at the 2024 Press Cup.

Journalist Tran Dinh Hung - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine - presented flags, flowers, plaques, and awards to the teams that won the Contribution Award. Among them, the Newspaper and Public Opinion also received the Contribution Award of the Press Cup 2024.

Nguyen Viet Hung (Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper) was the top scorer; the best goalkeeper was Bui Xuan Hau (VOV).

In addition, the Organizing Committee also presented other important awards to the referee team officiating the 2024 Press Cup final and to outstanding individuals.

Specifically, the top scorer was Nguyen Viet Hung (Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper); the best goalkeeper was Bui Xuan Hau (VOV).
