According to 9news, on the morning of January 7th, police in Victoria, Australia, arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a series of knife attacks in Melbourne that left four people injured.
The suspect is accused of stabbing and injuring four people in three random attacks from the evening of January 6 to the early morning of January 7.
Initial investigations indicate the attacks were not terrorism-related. The perpetrator had a prior criminal record. At the scene, police recovered a bag containing several knives belonging to the suspect.
The injured, aged between 24 and 31, were taken to hospital for treatment. Among the victims was a foreigner.
Authorities are investigating the motive for the attack. Police are investigating whether the suspect committed the crime due to a mental disorder, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Charges are expected to be filed on January 7th.
