Temporarily detain a director for tax evasion of more than 10 billion VND

On January 11, information from the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province Police said that this unit has decided to prosecute a tax evasion case that occurred at the Hai Duong Province Tax Department.

At the same time, the Investigation Agency also issued decisions to prosecute and execute an order to temporarily detain Vu Hong Giang, Director of Hanwo 2 Company Limited (address at No. 16, Lane 57 Tam Giang, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hai Duong City, Hai Duong Province) to investigate the crime of tax evasion, according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 200 of the Penal Code.

The Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province Police executed the arrest warrant for Vu Hong Giang.

During the investigation, the Economic Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police determined that, in the process of operating the business activities of Hanwo 2 Company Limited, consecutively in 2019 and 2020, Vu Hong Giang, as the legal representative and director of the company, used 80 invoices without accompanying goods and services, with a total amount of more than 111 billion VND, of which VAT was more than 11 billion VND, of an enterprise in Tu Son City (Bac Ninh) to account for input goods.

After that, Vu Hong Giang continued to declare and request the Hai Duong Provincial Tax Department to refund VAT on these invoices, causing a loss of more than 10 billion VND to the Hai Duong Provincial Tax Department.

The case is being further investigated and expanded by the Economic Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police.
