Patient L. was admitted to the hospital on September 15 in a coma. According to the patient's mother, on the evening of September 14, L. ate an unknown type of sea snail. About 8 hours later, the child began vomiting, then delirious and gradually fell into a coma. When asked, the family did not know what to do, so they took the child to the hospital. At the Emergency Department, doctors noted that the child was in a deep coma, gasping and then stopped breathing, and his heart rate gradually slowed down. The patient underwent CPR and was then transferred to the Pediatrics Department. Here, patient L. fell into a deep coma, stopped breathing, had circulatory failure, and had blood gas and acid-base balance disorders. The patient was assigned to monitor suspected poisoning from sea snails and received intensive resuscitation with invasive mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic stabilization, blood gas adjustment, acid-base balance and fluid. After 8 hours of intensive resuscitation, the child gradually regained consciousness, and his respiratory and hemodynamic status was stable. By the morning of September 16, patient L. was fully awake, able to drink milk, and breathe on his own; he is expected to be discharged this week.
The child's health has stabilized after receiving intensive treatment at the Pediatrics Department. |
