At the end of the year, when the red color of maple leaves begins to spread gently on the Hoang Lien Son mountain slopes, Lung Cung peak (in Lao Cai ) becomes the focus of the trekking community (hiking on wild, rugged terrain). This is considered the "most beautiful time of the year", when the dry season is stable, the sky is clear and the cloud hunting rate is high. The diverse landscape and moderate difficulty make this 2,913 m high mountain range welcome several hundred visitors each week, sometimes overloaded.

Located in Nam Co commune, Lung Cung is among the top 15 highest peaks in Vietnam. From the foot of the mountain to the top, visitors must overcome 18-20 km of forest road in two days and one night.

The route is not technically demanding, but requires stamina and perseverance, as there are many steep sections, and you can only move forward continuously. During the peak weeks between late November and early December, the influx of people is so strong that the sleeping huts near the top are full early.

Visitors can choose to start from three directions: Tu San village, Lung Cung village or Thao Chua Chai village. Of which, the route from Tu San is more popular because it passes through many beautiful landscapes such as Ta Cua Y valley or waterfalls deep in the forest. However, to reach the starting point, climbers must go through a rocky path of nearly 15 km from Tu Le - the first challenge before officially starting the journey.

What makes Lung Cung attract many trekkers this season is the rare combination of ancient maple leaves changing color, the late year sunshine spreading gold on the burnt grass slopes and the dense sea of clouds in the early morning.

At the top, the 360-degree view allows visitors to fully observe from sunrise to sunset.

"I have climbed several mountains before, but this is the first time I have stood in the middle of a sea of clouds covering the entire valley. I just want to stand there forever to watch the sun rise from the white clouds," said Nguyen Hong Nhan, 29 years old (in Hanoi ), after her trip at the end of November.

According to a tour guide in this area, the number of visitors climbing Lung Cung at the end of this year has increased sharply compared to previous years. Every week, the group he guides has several groups, mostly young people traveling in groups or families who like to experience nature. “We always ask customers carefully before accepting them, whether they have ever trekked before, or whether they exercise . Many people, after being consulted, decided to postpone to prepare more physically. That is good for their safety,” this person shared.

Lung Cung's most beautiful season only lasts about two months, but it is this short beauty that creates a special attraction.

With a sea of white clouds, brilliant maple forests and the yellow color of burnt grass, the nearly 3,000 m high mountain continues to be an unmissable destination for those looking for a challenging yet sublime experience amidst the Northwestern nature.
