On September 12th, the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, in coordination with the People's Committee of Phu Cat district, organized a ceremony to receive the certificate recognizing the "Phu Gia horse hat making craft" as a national intangible cultural heritage in Cat Tuong commune.
The traditional craft village of Phú Gia, specializing in making horse-riding conical hats, is located in Phú Gia village, Cát Tường commune, and is over 200 years old.
Phu Gia horse hats are a famous traditional handicraft product, maintained, practiced, and passed down from generation to generation by the local people.

Phu Gia horse hats are handcrafted, undergoing 10 different stages from frame creation to embroidery and leaf weaving. The hats are made of 10 layers using materials such as palm leaves, bamboo tubes, and pineapple roots that grow naturally in the forest, making them very durable and strong, with a lifespan of 150-200 years.
The Phu Gia horse-riding hat, a unique work of art, is a cultural heritage and a source of pride for the local people. The Phu Gia horse-riding hat marks the formation and development of Phu Cat, and is a product embodying the long-standing historical and cultural values of the people of Phu Cat.
Besides traditional horse-riding hats, Phu Gia craft village also produces many modernized hat styles, with some materials being changed to suit market trends.
The Phu Gia horse-riding hat-making craft has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, affirming the enduring value and vibrant vitality of the craft village; honoring and commending the local community and artisans for their efforts in preserving, conserving, and promoting the value of this heritage.

Currently, Phu Gia horse hat making village has been recognized by Binh Dinh province as a traditional craft village, awarded the title of Typical Vietnamese Craft Village, and has become a famous tourist destination in Binh Dinh.
With the Phu Gia horse hat making craft being recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, Binh Dinh province now has five heritages on this list. These are: traditional martial arts, traditional opera, folk singing, the Ba Pagoda - Nuoc Man Port festival in Phuoc Quang commune, Tuy Phuoc district, and the Phu Gia horse hat making craft.
