After the merger, Dak Lak province has a natural area of over 18,096 km²; 102 administrative units at commune and ward levels; a population of over 3.34 million people; ethnic minorities living in the province with over 838,000 people (accounting for 25.06% of the province's population); about 22% of the population are religious.
According to the multidimensional poverty standards for the period 2022 - 2025, as of December 31, 2024, the total number of poor households in the province is 40,917 households (accounting for 5.08% of the total number of households), of which 27,079 are poor ethnic minority households (accounting for 14.06%). To date, Dak Lak province has completed the poverty reduction target in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, with an average reduction of 4.2%/year.

After the arrangement and consolidation, Dak Lak province has completed the organization and staffing for ethnic and religious work at the provincial and communal levels; and implemented decentralization and delegation of authority according to regulations.
State management of ethnic groups, beliefs and religions has been strengthened from the provincial to grassroots levels; attention has been paid to policy propaganda and the fight against false arguments, and handling of issues arising in ethnic minority and religious areas.

Activities in the field of belief and religion in the province take place purely and in compliance with the law. The vast majority of people, dignitaries, officials, monks and followers believe in the Party's policies and the State's laws; actively and effectively participate in local movements, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc.
The economic and social life of ethnic minorities and religions is of concern to the government. Traditional festival values and cultural institutions are preserved, maintained and promoted.

Implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas in 2025 (Program 1719), Dak Lak province was allocated a total capital of over 1,772 billion VND, and by August 31, 2025, nearly 523 billion VND had been disbursed (equal to 29.5% of the plan).
At the meeting, Dak Lak province made the following recommendations and proposals: allowing the continued implementation of the mechanism for adjusting the undisbursed state budget estimates in 2024 to be transferred to 2025; promptly advising the Government to issue a decree on criteria for delimiting ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2026 - 2030 period so that localities have a basis to develop a plan to implement the program from the end of 2025; promptly develop and issue regulations to implement Program 1719 in the 2026 - 2030 period in 2025; provide guidance on the arrangement of specialized officials for ethnic and religious affairs in communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; issue guidelines on job positions for provincial and communal levels...

Concluding the working session, Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Ho Van Nien emphasized: Dak Lak is a province with a large number of ethnic minorities and religious people, with many potential complex issues regarding political security and social order and safety, so it is necessary to pay special attention to state management of ethnic minorities and religions; strengthen the work of grasping the grassroots situation, grasping the thoughts and aspirations of the people.
Permanent Deputy Minister Ho Van Nien suggested that the province needs to effectively implement the three national target programs; urgently disburse capital and effectively implement Program 1719 in 2025; pay more attention to social security, health care, education and arrange specialized staff to do ethnic and religious work in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in communes with a large number of ethnic minorities and religious people; build and promote the role of prestigious people; pay attention to the work of arranging and stabilizing the population.
Regarding the recommendations and proposals of the province, the working group will take note and synthesize reports for the Government and the National Assembly to consider.
