Working all night to save people in flooded areas
At 1 a.m. on October 30, floodwaters rose rapidly in Xuan Diem neighborhood, Dien Ban Bac ward ( Da Nang city), causing many houses to be submerged almost to the roof, seriously threatening the lives of 60 households, with more than 180 people. Upon receiving the news, Colonel Tran Huu Ich, Commander of the Da Nang City Military Command, immediately directed the mobilization of nearly 100 officers and soldiers to march at night, using canoes ST-750, ST-660, and 2 rescue vehicles to approach the area, bringing people out of the deep flooded area.
In the dark, heavy rain, high water, and strong currents, it was difficult to reach the people. The elderly, women, and children were given priority by the forces to evacuate first. Colonel Tran Quang Chanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Da Nang Military Command, commanded the scene, directing rescue teams to coordinate with the local authorities to use the ST-750 canoe and two rescue vehicles, taking turns transporting people and relief goods. Dry food, drinking water, and life jackets were quickly delivered to each area to support the people.

In Dien Ban Dong ward (Da Nang city), many areas are submerged in water from 1.8 to 2 meters deep, causing many families to be isolated and at risk of being unsafe. Colonel Dao Hong Phuong, Commander of Division 375 (Air Defense - Air Force) said: "From the afternoon of October 29, Division 375 mobilized 70 officers and soldiers of the Division's agencies and Regiment 282 along with rescue vehicles such as trucks and motorboats to urgently move to the rescue area, helping people fight floods and providing hundreds of packages, including: instant noodles, drinking water, fresh milk, bread for isolated households. At the same time, coordinating with volunteer forces, local youth unions provided food, medicine, and oxygen tanks to Vinh Duc General Hospital (where 900 officers, workers, employees and patients have been isolated for the past 2 days); evacuated many households from the danger zone and brought a woman about to give birth to Vinh Duc General Hospital safely".

In recent days, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command has dispatched hundreds of officers and soldiers to assist in evacuating people, moving property, building temporary houses and transporting essential supplies to people in deeply flooded and isolated areas... According to Colonel Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Commander of the Da Nang City Border Guard, the unit deployed 25 working groups with more than 350 officers and soldiers and 52 vehicles of various types to coordinate with local authorities to support and evacuate 175 households/632 people to safety.
Do not let people go hungry or cold
With the motto: "Do not let people go hungry or cold in the flood", in recent days, along with support and evacuation to ensure the safety of lives and property, the Da Nang City Armed Forces and local military units have also promptly provided food, drinking water, instant noodles, necessities, and medicine to people in flooded areas.
On the morning of October 30, the rain had stopped, the flood water had receded, but in Da Nang City, there were still 10 communes and wards completely isolated; 29 communes and wards were heavily flooded. Understanding the difficulties, hardships, and deprivation of people in flooded areas, the Da Nang Port Border Guard Command coordinated with donors to support and contribute thousands of gifts. Lieutenant Colonel Van Duc Truong, Political Commissar of the Da Nang Port Border Guard Command, said: "On October 30, the unit coordinated with benefactors to present 2,000 gifts worth 400 million VND, including: Clothes, mineral water, canned meat, bread, dry food, milk, medicine... to people in difficult circumstances in deeply flooded areas in the wards of Hoi An Dong, Dien Ban Tay, An Thang and neighboring areas".

In order to promptly rescue and support the people of villages 3, 4, 5 in Tra Leng commune who were isolated, officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Area 3 - Tra My (Da Nang City Military Command) did not mind the danger and difficulty, but mobilized by road to approach and provide food, foodstuffs, and drinking water to 665 households/2,727 people; at the same time, organized a reception point at the headquarters of the Command to distribute food and foodstuffs to the people in the area. The Defense Command of Area 1 - Cam Le (Da Nang City Military Command) organized a reception point at Hau Trung Hieu gas station in Phong Nam residential group, Hoa Xuan ward, to distribute to the isolated people in Tay An residential group.

The Defense Command of Region 5 - Dien Ban (Da Nang City Military Command) organized a reception point at the Co An Tay Cultural House, Dien Ban Dong Ward, to distribute food to people isolated at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital and people isolated in neighboring areas. On the morning of October 30, officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Region 5 - Dien Ban, along with the 575th Information Brigade and the 270th Engineering Brigade (Military Region 5) overcame the flood, delivering more than 5,200 meals, drinks, instant noodles and necessities to people in deep flooded areas and patients being treated at Vinh Duc General Hospital...
The timely presence of officers and soldiers of units to help people in natural disasters and calamities further illuminates the noble image of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
