(NLĐO) - Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education , Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Ministry of Education and Training will abolish early admission and introduce many more changes in the 2025 university entrance exam.
On the afternoon of February 16th, in an interview with a reporter from the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, stated that the Ministry of Education and Training has officially finalized the new points in the Circular amending and supplementing some articles of the Regulations on university-level admissions and admissions for college-level Early Childhood Education programs. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training has decided to completely abolish early admission (only direct admission according to regulations) starting from the 2025 admission season.
Candidates participating in the 2024 high school graduation exam.
Another significant change in the 2025 admissions season is that if applicants use their high school academic records (transcript) for admission, they must use the results for the entire 12th grade year instead of using the scores from 3 to 5 semesters as before.
Explaining this decision, a representative from the Ministry of Education and Training stated that the main reason is to prevent students from neglecting their studies in the 12th grade, especially in the second semester. Students must still complete their studies well to achieve good overall grades before entering the high school graduation exam. This regulation will positively contribute to and influence students' learning at the high school level.
Another new point that will officially be implemented is that training institutions must convert the equivalent admission scores between different admission methods and subject combinations.
Schools may convert the results of foreign language certificates (according to the list in the High School Graduation Examination Regulations) into foreign language scores for admission purposes.
In addition, each candidate's bonus points cannot exceed 10% of the maximum score (these bonus points are added after regional and subject-specific priority points have been added), and the candidate's total admission score cannot exceed the maximum score.
In the new regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training also removed the requirement that each major/training program can have a maximum of 4 admission combinations.
According to the upcoming regulations for university and college-level admissions in Early Childhood Education, starting in 2026, common subjects across different admission combinations will account for at least 50% of the total admission score.
