Ministry of Education announces sample test of V-SAT 2025 for university admission

V-SAT is a computer-based university entrance exam organized by participating universities, with the National Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment ( Ministry of Education and Training ) coordinating, supporting, and providing the question bank.

In addition to the literature exam, the V-SAT 2025 sample test includes 8 independent exams.

According to the National Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment, the V-SAT test is designed to assess candidates' abilities for the purpose of university admissions.

The 2025 V-SAT exam will be adjusted to align with the assessment of high school students' competencies under the 2018 General Education Program, with a high degree of differentiation.

In 2025, this exam will consist of 8 independent subjects corresponding to the subjects in the high school curriculum, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, English, and literature.

Therefore, starting in 2025, the V-SAT exam will include a literature subject.

The exam format is objective multiple-choice questions for each subject, administered independently on a computer. The Literature exam, however, combines multiple-choice questions with computer-based essay writing.

Depending on the purpose of using the exam results and the desired fields of study for the universities, candidates can register to take from 1 to 8 subjects.

The exam is conducted on a computer and lasts 90 minutes for mathematics and literature, and 60 minutes for the remaining subjects.

The exam includes four types of questions: true/false multiple-choice questions; four-choice objective multiple-choice questions; matching multiple-choice questions; and short-answer or essay questions.

Eighteen higher education institutions will organize and use the V-SAT exam in 2025.

In 2023, the V-SAT exam was held for the first time, organized by four universities (including the University of Banking Ho Chi Minh City, the University of Finance - Marketing, Saigon University, and Ho Chi Minh City Open University) in collaboration with the National Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment.

In 2024, 10 universities signed an agreement to cooperate in organizing this exam.

In 2025, the organization and use of the V-SAT exam will be expanded to 18 higher education institutions nationwide, including:

Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, Saigon University, University of Finance - Marketing, Ho Chi Minh City Open University,

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, Van Lang University, Lac Hong University, Can Tho University, Dong Thap University, Tra Vinh University

Vinh University, Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, Banking Academy, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Duy Tan University, and Thai Nguyen University.

Several universities have announced plans to allocate 10-40% of their total enrollment quotas for 2025 across all programs to the V-SAT exam results-based admission method.

A representative from the National Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment stated: "The exam question bank is built according to a scientific process, applying modern theories and techniques of educational measurement and evaluation, ensuring reliability and validity."

"The large number of questions and sub-questions in the exam ensures objectivity and fairness in evaluation."

Specifically, 2025 will see changes in question format and scoring methods to increase the accuracy of candidate assessment.

According to the agreement of the schools participating in organizing and using the V-SAT exam results, this exam will be held at multiple schools and the results will be universally recognized.

Accordingly, candidates can participate in the admissions process using their V-SAT test results, but they do not have to go to the school they intend to apply to in person to take the test.
