According to an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 30, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Comrade Wang Yi, Member of the Politburo, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, will visit Vietnam and co-chair the 15th Session of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang from December 1-2.

Over the past period, Vietnam-China relations have generally maintained a positive development trend and achieved many positive results. This is especially true following the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the invitation of President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping from October 30 to November 1, 2022.

In terms of trade, Vietnam continues to be China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and its fourth largest trading partner when considering individual countries.

Since the beginning of 2023, many Chinese businesses, especially those with the potential to participate deeply in the global supply chain, have intensified their surveys and investments in northern Vietnamese provinces. For example, Wingtech Group, the largest smartphone assembler in China and globally, has committed to continuing its surveys and selecting investment opportunities in Phu Tho province. Goertek Group of China recently invested in a new project worth $280 million and expanded an existing project in Bac Ninh province. BYD Group, China's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, invested in an automotive components project in Phu Tho province with a total investment of $269 million, achieving revenue of $178 million in 2022...

In terms of tourism, China has led Vietnam in the number of visitors for many years, accounting for one-third of the total international tourists to Vietnam. Since February 2020, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, tourism cooperation between the two countries has been temporarily interrupted. In the first 10 months of 2023, Vietnam welcomed 1.3 million Chinese tourists, ranking second among the source markets for visitors to Vietnam.
