Four Vietnamese dishes in the top of the world's best dishes contain ginger

The list was published on September 17th by a renowned food website. Ranked 12th, chicken pho is described as "one of Vietnam's traditional dishes".

Chicken pho broth is usually lighter and clearer than beef pho broth. Other ingredients used to make this dish include ginger, fish sauce, shallots, green onions, cilantro, lime leaves, and rice noodles.

Many believe that this pho dish originated around the 1930s, when the supply of beef in northern Vietnam was limited.

Ranked at number 23, glutinous rice balls in sweet soup (chè trôi nước) impress diners with the sweet, fragrant flavor of the soup made with palm sugar and ginger. Adding to the dish are the soft, chewy rice balls filled with smooth mung bean paste.

This is one of the desserts that people especially love on cold days.

Mixed pho, with meat marinated in salt, ginger, pepper, garlic, lime juice, etc., ranks 25th on Taste Atlas's list.

Vietnam's final representative is boiled chicken, ranked at number 38. According to a popular food website, this is an indispensable dish in Northern Vietnam during the Lunar New Year.

The chicken is cleaned, rubbed with salt, and then boiled whole in water with a little ginger, onion, and turmeric to give the skin a golden, shiny appearance. The criteria for judging a good, standard boiled chicken are that the skin doesn't crack and the meat doesn't turn dark.

After boiling, the chicken is chopped into pieces, topped with a layer of lime leaves, and dipped in lime salt. Boiled chicken symbolizes abundance and prosperity and is often eaten with sticky rice.
