Can Tho showcases drones at the river festival.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Following the opening ceremony was a drone show, recreating images of Can Tho's culture, heritage, and development orientation, along with a low-altitude fireworks display to celebrate.

On December 12th, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued a plan to organize the Can Tho River Culture Festival in 2025. The event promises to create a vibrant cultural and tourism highlight to welcome the new year 2026.

Accordingly, the River Culture Festival will take place over 6 days, from December 27, 2025 to January 1, 2026, with the main theme " Can Tho - The Colors of the River". The festival will be held in Ninh Kieu ward, Cai Khe ward and surrounding areas.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, the festival is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the unique riverine culture of the Mekong Delta and Can Tho to tourists, while promoting sustainable tourism development, effectively exploiting river tourism resources, and connecting domestic and international river tourism routes (along the Mekong River).

The festival features many activities, including an opening ceremony and light show taking place at 8 PM on December 27th at Khai Luong Canal, Cai Khe Ward.

The opening art program will recreate the distinctive cultural colors of the riverine region, through stories about boats, livelihoods, festivals, and cuisine , especially the image of a floating market.

In particular, immediately following the art performance was a drone show recreating the cultural images, heritage, and development direction of Can Tho, along with a low-altitude fireworks display to celebrate.

Following the opening night, the activities taking place over the next few days include a photo exhibition "Life on the River - The Mekong Delta Past and Present"; an OCOP (One Commune One Product) display and culinary demonstration; releasing lanterns on the river; organizing tours to experience the Cai Rang floating market and the Can Tho bridge at sunset, along with encouraging businesses to introduce river tourism tours at promotional prices.

In addition, water sports activities will be concentrated in the Cai Khe canal and Hau River area: Sailing race; SUP board race; Can Tho City Open Composite Boat Racing Championship…

The plan put forth by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also places special emphasis on protecting the river and waterway environment. From December 15th to December 25th, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will lead activities to collect waste and clean riverbanks and canals in key wards (Ninh Kieu, Cai Rang, An Binh, Cai Khe).

The People's Committee of Can Tho City requests that relevant departments, agencies, and localities seriously implement the Plan, ensuring quality, safety, and effectiveness, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the city.
