According to police documents obtained by AFP, around 40 people participated in the raid to search for Rolex watches that Peruvian President Dina Boluarte had failed to declare.

Police said the raid was "aimed at searching for and seizing" Rolex watches like the ones pictured.

The raid, a joint operation between police and the prosecutor's office, was broadcast on Peru's Latina television channel.

The raid comes after Peruvian authorities this month launched an investigation into President Boluarte following a newspaper report about her wearing luxury watches of mysterious origin not disclosed in public records.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte took office in December 2022.

There is currently no information on President Boluarte's reaction.

President Boluarte took office in December 2022, after former President Pedro Castillo attempted to dissolve parliament and govern by decree, leading to his swift overthrow and arrest, according to AFP.

Ms. Boluarte accused Mr. Castillo of promoting political polarization during his nearly 17 months in power. However, since Mr. Castillo's arrest, continuous protests have taken place across the country demanding Ms. Boluarte's resignation, the dissolution of parliament, and immediate elections.
