Footballer Xuan Son had a successful surgery.

GĐXH – After a successful surgery, it is expected that today (January 7), the male player can start light training and move with crutches.

Information from Vinmec International General Hospital said that the surgery for player Xuan Son was successful, ending at 9:43 p.m. on January 6.

Currently, Xuan Son is awake, pain-free and has begun to move his toes slightly right after the surgery. The male player is still being closely monitored for his general condition and soft tissue injuries.

According to Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Dung, Director of Orthopedic Trauma & Musculoskeletal Department, Vinmec Healthcare System - who directly performed the surgery, Xuan Son will enter the physical therapy and rehabilitation phase with optimal support from experts at Vinmec.

It is expected that today (January 7), the male player can start light training and move with crutches.

Previously, on the evening of January 6, after conducting in-depth examinations and consulting with experts, Professor Tran Trung Dung determined that Xuan Son's injury was more serious than initially recorded.

The consultation results recorded: Xuan Son had a complex closed fracture of the middle third of the two tibia bones, with a large loose fragment.

Vinmec Sports Medicine doctors have decided on a closed bone fusion surgery method using intramedullary nails with pins under the fluoroscopy screen. This is a minimally invasive surgical solution, helping to minimize soft tissue damage and ensure quick recovery.

As reported, in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup final at Rajamangala Stadium on the evening of January 5, player Xuan Son was injured in the 32nd minute after trying to stretch to pass the ball. Immediately after receiving first aid on the field, Xuan Son was taken for an X-ray, and the team's medical team conducted a remote consultation with experts from the Vinmec Sports Medicine Center to find a treatment plan.

After discussing and agreeing on the best solution with the player and his family, the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation decided to bring Xuan Son back to Vietnam for surgery.
