Footballer Xuan Son had a successful surgery.

GĐXH – Following a successful surgery, the male player is expected to begin light training and using crutches today (January 7th).

According to information from Vinmec International General Hospital, the surgery for footballer Xuan Son was successful, concluding at 9:43 PM on January 6th.

Currently, Xuan Son is conscious, pain-free, and has begun light movements of his toes immediately after the surgery. The footballer is still being closely monitored for his overall condition and soft tissue injuries.

According to Professor, Doctor Tran Trung Dung, Director of Orthopedics & Musculoskeletal Surgery at Vinmec Healthcare System – who directly performed the surgery – Xuan Son will enter the physical therapy and rehabilitation phase with optimal support from experts at Vinmec.

It is expected that today (January 7th), the male player may be able to start light training and move around with crutches.

Earlier, on the evening of January 6th, after conducting in-depth examinations and expert consultations, Professor Tran Trung Dung determined that Xuan Son's injuries were more serious than initially thought.

The consultation results indicated that Xuan Son suffered a complex closed fracture of the middle third of the shafts of both tibia and fibula, with a large detached fragment.

Vinmec Sports Medicine doctors decided on a closed osteotomy surgical method using intramedullary nails with locking pins under fluoroscopy. This is a minimally invasive surgical solution that minimizes soft tissue damage and ensures rapid recovery.

As previously reported, during the second leg of the ASEAN Cup final at Rajamangala Stadium on the evening of January 5th, player Xuan Son suffered an injury in the 32nd minute after attempting to stretch to pass the ball. Immediately after receiving first aid on the field, Xuan Son underwent an X-ray, and the team's medical staff conducted a remote consultation with experts from the Vinmec Sports Medicine Center to determine the best course of treatment.

After discussing and agreeing on the best course of action with the player and his family, the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation decided to bring Xuan Son back to Vietnam for surgery.
