On June 21, the leaders of Victory Primary, Secondary and High School (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak) said they had sent a written response to a parent's complaint that their child had passed the 10th grade entrance exam at a school in Dak Lak but had his results canceled due to late payment of tuition fees.
Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Quang T. (residing in Tam Minh commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi), father of NML (16 years old), said that his son's admission to grade 10 of this school was canceled because he was 2 days late in paying tuition.
According to Mr. T., his child enrolled in this school from grade 2 to grade 9. In 2024, L. took the entrance exam to grade 10 at Victory School and was admitted in the first round. The school and the homeroom teacher announced that June 8 was the deadline for enrollment and tuition payment.
"Due to being busy with work, my family was not able to pay the tuition fee as announced by the school. On June 10, when my family came to pay the tuition fee, the school had already canceled the results," Mr. T. said.
Regarding the 2-day delay in paying tuition, Mr. T. explained that because his house was far away, he called the school's phone number 0942194xxx to get his bank account information. However, there was not enough money in his account (tuition 3.7 million VND, food 800,000 VND) so he paid late.
"My child's file has been at Victory School for 8 years now, he hasn't been withdrawn or moved anywhere, so why is the school treating him like this? Just because he was 2 days late in paying his tuition, now they're disqualifying him," Mr. T. said sadly.
This parent also wondered why Victory School required students to pay in advance every year before starting school, and that anyone who transferred to another school would lose this payment.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Hoa Nam - principal of Victory School - said: "The school requires that tuition fees must be paid. If not, the results will be canceled, creating opportunities for others."
The principal also said that L.'s family said it was due to circumstances, but during the tuition payment deadline, there was no request or exchange to request late payment of the admission fee to the admissions board before the deadline.
Department of Education and Training: Waiting for school report
On the afternoon of June 21, Mr. Pham Dang Khoa - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province - said that he had just learned the information through a reporter. He is currently waiting for a specific report from the school regarding the cancellation of ML students' results.
"After receiving the school's report, the department will work, compare the regulations and will have information later," said Mr. Khoa.
