Fire at two stilt houses in Lak district, Dak Lak province caused great damage

On the morning of April 13th, Nguyen Van Long, Secretary of the Lak District Party Committee in Dak Lak province, stated that a fire had recently occurred in the district, burning down two stilt houses belonging to ethnic minority people, causing significant property damage, but fortunately, there were no casualties.

According to a report from the Bong Krang Commune Police, Lak District, at approximately 3:30 PM on April 11th, the commune police received a report from the public about a stilt house belonging to a resident in Dar Ju hamlet, Bong Krang commune, that was on fire.

Immediately after receiving the report, the commune police contacted the Fire and Rescue Police force of Dak Lak province, and mobilized all commune police forces in coordination with other local forces to the scene to extinguish the fire.

The house was made of natural wood and contained many flammable items, so the fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire house.

By the time the authorities arrived, the fire had already raged fiercely, spreading to the adjacent wooden house. Local forces mobilized water pumps from nearby houses to extinguish the fire, along with assistance from Firefighting Team No. 5 of Cu Kuin district. By approximately 4:30 PM, the fire was completely extinguished.

Currently, the weather in Dak Lak is at the peak of the dry season in 2025, so the fire broke out fiercely.

After the fire was extinguished, the local police cordoned off the scene and assessed the damaged property.

According to preliminary statistics, one of the burned houses belonged to Mr. Y Oan Uong, born in 1983. It was a three-room stilt house with a frame, floor, and walls made of natural wood, and a corrugated iron roof. The house had a floor area of ​​75 square meters and was built in 2012. Other items destroyed included 110 bags of dried rice (70 kg each), a tractor, a two-tael gold necklace, a one-tael gold ring, 60 million dong in cash, and an old Dream motorbike.

The total damage to the two stilt houses and property that were burned amounted to hundreds of millions of dong. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the fire.

Immediately after the fire, the leaders of the Lak District Party Committee and People's Committee, along with relevant departments and local Party committees and authorities, visited and offered condolences to the families affected by the fire…

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the authorities.
