Attending the event were the Ministers of Science and Technology, Information and Communications, Education and Training, Finance, representatives of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Binh Duong province, the Board of Directors and scientists of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, with the mission of pioneering and being the core of Vietnam's highereducation system, Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi National University have been forming a model of a system of universities that are modern in management, excellent in training, innovative in scientific research and effective and practical in serving the community. After nearly 30 years of establishment, both national universities have always strived to be at the forefront of training, scientific research and serving the community. At the same time, both national universities have always improved their rankings in prestigious university rankings in the region and the world.

However, currently, both national universities are facing many obstacles and have proposed to the Government issues such as: recommending the Government to consider directing ministries, branches and localities to implement the contents of the development strategy of the two national universities; soon promulgating a Decree on national universities; deciding to promulgate regulations on the organization and operation of national universities and member higher education institutions in the direction of increasing autonomy and self-responsibility for the two national universities according to Clause 2, Article 8 of the Law on Higher Education amended in 2018; increasing investment and placing orders for the two national universities to promote training of basic science human resources, high-quality human resources... to become top universities in Asia.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha stated that over the past 30 years, the two national universities have achieved many achievements in training and scientific research, affirming their position as the two leading universities in the country as well as affirming their position on prestigious world rankings. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the recommendations of the two national universities to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and resolution. In the immediate future, a new decree on national universities will be issued this September. The remaining issues such as mechanisms, increased investment, etc. The Government will study together with ministries and branches and will have specific solutions. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also noted that in the current context, the development of science and technology and digital transformation of the country must be based on internal resources, which are the country's high-quality human resources. Therefore, the two national universities will be properly invested to focus on training human resources for the country, carrying out research topics of national strategic importance, and taking the lead in scientific fields.
