Over the years, businesses in Dong Nai province have been striving to proactively secure their own raw material sources for production. Simultaneously, they are tackling the challenge of upgrading products and fostering international cooperation to ensure their goods meet high global standards.

Proactive in sourcing raw materials.

Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd. (Phu Hoa commune) is one of Vietnam's large-scale producers and suppliers of cocoa products. The company focuses on developing its production through deep processing of cocoa products. Its cocoa products are quite diverse, including cocoa wine, chocolate, cocoa powder, etc., and are distributed through various channels. The company also collaborates with partners from Japan to produce high-quality products for export to the Japanese and international markets.

According to Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh, Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd., for many years the company has strived to build a large cocoa raw material supply source in localities of Dong Nai province with hundreds of hectares to achieve self-sufficiency in raw materials. In addition to nurturing the local raw material area, in recent years the company has expanded its investment to include raw material areas in Gia Lai province and has initially achieved significant results.

When businesses can independently source raw materials to produce finished products or supply materials to other entities, their production and business efficiency will improve.

According to Mr. Khanh, cocoa prices have risen sharply in recent years, attracting significant attention from stakeholders. For the company, expanding raw material areas is linked to a sustainable, long-term development strategy, not simply chasing market prices. The company will continue its efforts to secure high-quality raw materials, proactively managing production and business operations to meet customer demand.

Similarly, in recent years, Domilk Joint Stock Company (with a factory located in Long Thanh commune) has been actively investing in products that reflect local identity. Besides its existing range of branded cakes and candies with nationwide market share, Domilk is strengthening its innovation efforts, prioritizing research and development of products incorporating local specialties such as mangosteen, Tan Trieu pomelo, and Tan Lap peanuts. Domilk has also collaborated to print representative images of the land, people, and economy of Dong Nai on each of its products.

In its long-term plan, Domilk aims to become a large-scale local food production enterprise, and is therefore focusing on developing a milk raw material area for processing. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh, Director of Domilk Joint Stock Company, the company is surveying and planning to collaborate with farmers and the local community in Xuan Phu commune to establish this area as a source of high-quality cow's milk for the company. With declining supply from small-scale farmers and scarcity of supply from other major dairy farming regions in the country, self-sufficiency in local raw materials is crucial.

Efforts to meet world standards

Dong Nai Rubber Corporation, the largest rubber company in the industry, has implemented a series of modern technical and technological solutions in production; applying science and technology in cultivation, harvesting, and processing. Besides Dong Nai, the corporation also invests in and develops rubber plantations in Lam Dong province and in Laos and Cambodia. Currently, the corporation has 39,100 hectares of raw material area; 10 rubber plantations, 3 processing plants with a total capacity of 49,000 tons/year; and 7 subsidiaries operating in fields ranging from rubber cultivation and processing to wood processing and industrial park infrastructure investment.

Mr. Vo Quang Ha, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Wood and Handicraft Association, introduced the Dong Nai wood industry to international partners.

According to Mr. Do Minh Tuan, General Director of Dong Nai Rubber Corporation (headquartered in Xuan Lap ward), in addition to proactively securing raw materials for production, the corporation focuses on deep processing, developing refined products and high value-added products to meet market demands. It continuously researches and develops new products, gradually mastering the global value chain and strongly building and promoting the DONARUCO brand in the international market.

Mr. Vo Quang Ha, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Wood and Handicraft Association (Dowa), noted that Dong Nai is the second largest wood producer and exporter in the country, and it is crucial for businesses to strive to meet global standards. Over the past period, Dowa has worked to connect with many international and domestic organizations to open training courses for member businesses to improve production capacity and apply new technologies. In addition, the wood industry is strengthening links with forest growers and agricultural and forestry companies to build legal wood raw material areas, meeting anti-deforestation standards and other standards from demanding markets.
