On the afternoon of June 14th, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received the Speaker of the National Assembly of Ivory Coast, Adama Bictogo, who is on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Chairman of the National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue.
Welcoming the Speaker of the National Assembly of Ivory Coast and his delegation to Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong stated that this visit was the highest-level delegation and also the first Speaker of the National Assembly of Ivory Coast to visit Vietnam, making an important contribution to strengthening cooperative relations between the two National Assemblies as well as the two countries.
The Speaker of the Ivorian National Assembly expressed his pleasure at meeting President Vo Van Thuong again, and stated that Vietnam and Ivory Coast have had significant economic cooperation; he highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, especially in poverty reduction.
Speaker of the National Assembly Adama Bictogo shared that Vietnam and Ivory Coast have many similarities in economic development. In the context of difficulties and challenges from global issues, the two countries need to strengthen coordination in the future, creating a safe, favorable, and reliable business environment. Ivory Coast hopes to welcome Vietnamese businesses to explore opportunities for cooperation and investment, especially in the development of processing and export technologies.
President Vo Van Thuong stated that he has always followed the developments of Ivory Coast with interest, and congratulated the people of Ivory Coast on the important achievements they have made in many different fields.
President Vo Van Thuong expressed his confidence that Ivory Coast will continue to maintain political stability, develop socio-economic aspects, effectively implement the "Vision 2030," gradually build a more prosperous country, and enhance its role and position in regional and international forums.
The President affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to promoting friendly cooperative relations with friendly African countries, with Ivory Coast identified as one of its important partners.
The President stated that the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times, especially in the political-diplomatic and economic fields, are significant. However, the two countries still have much room for further development of cooperative relations. The President proposed that both sides strengthen exchanges of delegations, high-level contacts, and contacts between ministries, sectors, and localities; continue to coordinate closely and actively support each other in multilateral forums; and prioritize promoting economic cooperation commensurate with the excellent political relations and the great potential of both sides.

Expressing pleasure at the increasingly positive development of relations between the Vietnamese and Ivorian Parliaments, which create a favorable foundation for economic cooperation, the President welcomed the results of the talks between Speaker Adama Bictogo and Speaker Vuong Dinh Hue, as well as the meetings with Vietnamese leaders.
Both sides believe that the signing and implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two Parliaments will contribute to further deepening the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the future.
President Vo Van Thuong and Speaker of the National Assembly of Ivory Coast Adama Bictogo agreed on the need to further strengthen trade cooperation in a sustainable and balanced manner, creating conditions for expanding exports to each other's markets as well as to the ASEAN and African regional markets. The two leaders affirmed the priority of promoting and expanding cooperation in the fields of agriculture and investment.
