National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament and conducted bilateral activities in Switzerland from July 27-30 at the invitation of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Tulia Ackson and IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong.

The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is the most important parliamentary foreign affairs forum on a global scale.
The event is held every five years, alongside the Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly held twice a year.
Notably, this conference is held alternately at the three largest multilateral centers in the world, including New York (USA), Vienna (Austria) and Geneva (Switzerland), which are home to key United Nations agencies and leading global multilateral institutions.
This year's conference attracted the participation of 110 National Assembly Chairmen - the most ever.
The conference, themed “A World in Turmoil: Parliamentary Cooperation and Multilateralism for Peace, Justice and Prosperity for All”, reflects the common concerns of the international community in the context of the current extremely complicated world situation.
It is expected that the National Assembly Chairman will deliver an important speech at the conference's plenary session, demonstrating the responsibility and role of the Vietnamese legislature in participating in solving global issues.
The National Assembly Chairman will also have many bilateral activities to promote relations and build a parliamentary cooperation network with countries and international organizations, contributing to gaining international support and assistance for the country's socio-economic development and priorities.
