Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games.

Mr. Sa Xiaolam, who previously served as assistant director for the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, has been chosen as the general director of the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) and has revealed initial details about the script for this special event. With the theme "Towards Asia," the ASIAD 19 opening ceremony will be rich in the cultural colors of the countries and territories with participating sports delegations. The ceremony will be as beautiful as a watercolor painting, bathed in predominantly blue and green light. The highlight of the ceremony will be a unique water fountain performance, unlike anything seen anywhere else in the world. The artists performing the ceremony have been practicing for over two years.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Big Lotus Stadium, which has a capacity of 100,000 seats.

Our message is that ASIAD connects humanity, making the whole world feel like one family, and all viewers will be moved and happy. The opening ceremony will break with tradition by not having a fireworks display. This is because we are adhering to a green philosophy in organizing this event."

The ASIAD 19 torch relay was completed on September 20th.

The appearance of young Lebanese artist Talia Lahoud (a young artist with global influence through both YouTube and TikTok platforms) is also a key highlight of the opening ceremony. She will perform the song "Sending All My Love" with Thai artist Jannine Weigel and Japanese artist Hiroaki Kato.

The torch-lighting ceremony at the 19th Asian Games was given special attention by the host country. The organizing committee implemented a digital torch-lighting program starting in November 2022. As of September 15th, the event had attracted over 100 million participants worldwide. In addition to the physical torch relay, the 19th Asian Games torch relay concluded on September 20th. A total of 2,022 people participated in the torch relay, which passed through 11 cities, and Wu Yibing – a symbol of Chinese tennis – completed the final leg.

The Vietnamese sports delegation, led by head of delegation Dang Ha Viet, will have two athletes carrying the national flag: Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming) and Bac Thi Khiem (taekwondo). On the morning of September 22nd, the organizing committee will hold the flag-raising ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation at the ASIAD Athletes' Village.
