The meeting with voters of District 1 after the 5th session of the 15th National Assembly , before the 10th session of the 10th City People's Council, term 2021 - 2026, took place at the District 1 Party Committee (HCMC) on the evening of June 29.
Here, Mr. Le Duc Thanh, Chairman of District 1 People's Committee, gave feedback to voters. He said that currently, Ho Chi Minh City is collecting opinions from departments, sectors and people to amend, supplement and replace Decision 74 of 2008 on management and use of sidewalks. Accordingly, some sidewalks and roads may be allowed for parking or used for purposes other than traffic and subject to a fee.
Mr. Le Duc Thanh, Chairman of District 1 People's Committee, informed about the work of restoring order on roadsides and sidewalks in the district.
According to Mr. Le Duc Thanh, when Ho Chi Minh City passes a new Decision replacing Decision 74 in 2008, District 1 will also study the arrangement and rearrangement of some roads in the area to use them for purposes other than traffic. Currently, when Decision 74 has not been replaced, the organization and maintenance of order on the roadsides and sidewalks in District 1 are also carried out by local authorities throughout the city under the direction of the city.
Mr. Le Duc Thanh also acknowledged the voters' comments on the management of roads and sidewalks in the district, which is still not strict in some places. Mr. Thanh affirmed that there will be more drastic direction for the departments, branches, and organizations of District 1 and the People's Committees of 10 wards in the work of restoring order to roads and sidewalks.
Regarding the "ultimatum" of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the situation of sidewalk encroachment, Mr. Le Duc Thanh, Chairman of the District 1 People's Committee, said that the local government has issued directive documents signed by Mr. Thanh himself. The directive documents aim to assign responsibility to the heads of the district's departments and agencies, and the chairmen of the People's Committees of 10 wards in ensuring order on the roads and sidewalks in their areas. If there are violations in the use of roads and sidewalks leading to serious, especially serious consequences, the responsibility of the head will be considered according to regulations.
Voter Nguyen Hai Hung hopes that Ho Chi Minh City will soon restore order to the roadsides and sidewalks.
The Chairman of District 1 People's Committee also called on people to support and accompany the government in ensuring order on roads and sidewalks; promote self-management, remind each other to maintain order on roadsides and sidewalks, and keep them clean and beautiful.
Previously, also during the meeting, voter Nguyen Hai Hung suggested that Ho Chi Minh City should be "resolute, strong, bold, and merciless" in restoring order to the roadsides and sidewalks. This voter also said that for this work to be effective, Ho Chi Minh City needs officials with a resolute, tough, courageous, innovative spirit, who dare to think, dare to do, dare to confront, dare to take responsibility, and are not afraid of conflicts.
