Diverse series of activities at the IASC-ARS 2025 Conference

From December 3 to 6, the 13th International Conference of the International Association for Actuarial Science - Asia Region (IASC-ARS 2025) took place at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and the UEH School of Economics, Law and Government (CELG-UEH).

The conference brings together leading statisticians , data scientists, artificial intelligence (AI) and econometricians from Asia, Europe, the United States and Australia, becoming one of the outstanding international academic activities in Vietnam in 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director in charge of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that UEH was honored to be chosen as the host of this year's conference.

The IASC-ARS conference series has become one of the most influential academic forums in Asia in promoting computational statistics, data science, artificial intelligence and quantitative methods.

The organization of the 13th Conference in Ho Chi Minh City marks a significant milestone for the Vietnamese scientific community, especially in the context of digital transformation, innovation in AI and data-driven policy making.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung, this year's conference offers a rich program with keynote speeches, reporting sessions, in-depth tutorials and poster presentations...

All reflect the diversity and depth of contemporary research, from Bayesian computation, machine learning, statistics, nonlinear time series, to applications in finance, healthcare, environment and complex data systems...

The workshop includes 44 reporting sessions. With a total of 169 papers presented by a wide range of statistical researchers from around the world, reflecting the depth and breadth of research topics in computational statistics, machine learning, big data and applied fields.

The papers cover a wide range of scientific topics, emphasizing cutting-edge developments in statistical computing, data science, artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary applications.

The IASC-ARS 2025 Conference has special significance for the Vietnamese statistical and data science community, such as strengthening Vietnam's position on the international statistical and data science map; expanding the academic cooperation network, helping to connect Vietnamese scholars with prestigious research groups in the region and the world; creating a training platform for the young generation, especially doctoral students and graduate students through tutorials, poster sessions and direct interactions with international experts.

At the same time, the IASC-ARS 2025 Workshop was held to promote the development of national research capacity in essential areas such as AI, machine learning, socio-economic modeling, big data, biomedical statistics and quantitative analysis in policy making.

Thereby, contributing to the roadmap for building an international academic ecosystem in Vietnam, in which UEH and VIASM play a pioneering role; opening up opportunities for Vietnam to continue hosting other major events and become an important academic destination, helping Vietnam affirm its mark on the world statistical map.
