At the press conference on the distribution of scores for the 2025 high school graduation exam held on the afternoon of July 15th, experts and educators invited by the Ministry of Education and Training to comment on the score distribution for the press all assessed that this year's score distribution is generally good, not shocking, even in difficult subjects. In particular, there was no "flood of perfect scores" like the phenomenon that occurred in previous high school exams.
However, when comparing the number of perfect scores (10 points) based on the total number of candidates taking each subject, it becomes clear that some subjects have quite a high number of perfect scores.
For example, in geography. In 2024, over 704,000 candidates took the geography exam (as part of the social science combined exam), with 3,175 perfect scores (10 out of 10). In 2025, the number of candidates will be lower, over 476,000, but there will be as many as 6,907 perfect scores.
Last year, over 345,600 candidates took the physics exam, with 55 achieving a perfect score of 10. In 2025, there will be over 347,000 candidates and a staggering 3,929 perfect scores of 10.
Notably, the two subjects considered difficult by the public are mathematics and English. This year, mathematics – a compulsory subject for both years – had 513 perfect scores (10 out of 10), while in 2024 there were none. In English, over 906,000 candidates took the exam in 2024, and there were 565 perfect scores. This year, only over 351,000 candidates took the exam, but there were 141 perfect scores...
These figures show that a "flood of perfect scores" still occurs in some subjects, contrary to the assessments of experts.
