Suoi Kiet - a locality formed after the merger of Gia Huynh and Suoi Kiet communes (formerly Tanh Linh district, Binh Thuan province) - is now sporting a new look.

After the merger, Suoi Kiet commune covers an area of ​​over 378km² with more than 16,600 inhabitants. Building on the foundation of two communes that have already achieved the new rural standard, Suoi Kiet seems to have gained additional internal strength to develop strongly.

Over the years, Suoi Kiet's economy has developed steadily and shifted in the right direction. Agriculture and forestry remain the mainstays, but industry, handicrafts, and trade and services have also begun to flourish.

The commune has two 3-star OCOP products, along with more than 17 businesses and hundreds of households that have been making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the area.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of the commune, in the last 5 years, the commune has collected over 133 billion VND in revenue, a clear testament to the transformation of a rural area that was previously fraught with difficulties. The annual student enrollment rate exceeds 99%, and schools have received significant investment in modern facilities. Vocational training is regularly maintained, helping people improve their skills right in their hometowns. The poverty rate has decreased to 3.22%, and social welfare policies are implemented promptly.

Now, traveling along the DT720 road through the commune, the most noticeable thing is the civilized and clean lifestyle that has become a habit for the people. The movement of national solidarity in building new rural areas has spread strongly, with 99% of households having access to clean water and waste being collected regularly. It is these simple changes that have created the appearance of a rural area that is transforming with vitality.

According to the People's Committee of Suoi Kiet commune, in the period 2021-2025, Suoi Kiet completed all 19 criteria for New Rural Development. From well-maintained asphalt and concrete roads to irrigation systems, electricity, schools, and rural markets – all are the result of the joint efforts and cooperation between the government and the people in building New Rural Development.

Currently, the new 100-hectare industrial cluster in the commune is gradually completing the necessary procedures, promising to create more jobs and opportunities for service development in the future.

It is worth remembering that at the first Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, held in July 2025, the Party Committee of Suoi Kiet commune set the goal of becoming an advanced new rural commune – where people's lives are significantly improved, infrastructure is complete, and the economy develops harmoniously on three pillars: agriculture , industry, and services. Average per capita income is targeted at 75 million VND/year; the poverty rate is to be reduced to below 3%; and 90% of village roads are to be concreted or asphalted.

The commune continues to attract investment in industrial clusters, striving to establish an industrial zone to create a breakthrough in development; regularly focuses on resolving social issues effectively; develops healthcare, education and training; and builds a healthy and progressive socio-cultural environment, while preserving national cultural identity.

The commune Party Committee must lead and direct the effective implementation of local defense and military solutions; focusing on grasping and forecasting the situation early and from afar to proactively prevent, combat, and resolve situations and incidents promptly; avoiding passivity, surprise, and the emergence of complex issues or hotspots.

Of course, realizing that aspiration still requires much work and greater cooperation, unity, and effort from all sectors of the population.
