From the classroom to volunteer work

Having graduated as the valedictorian in Literature from Da Lat University, Hoang Thi Dieu Loan (born in 1984, from Quang Binh province ) moved to Gia Lai to start her career. In her early days at the school, while researching local traditions, Ms. Dieu Loan had the opportunity to visit the revolutionary base in Chu A Thai commune. There, she was deeply moved by the impoverished living conditions of many students, who lacked sufficient food, clothing, and education. From then on, she was always concerned about how to help these children have the opportunity to study so that they could return to build their homeland in the future.

Without waiting for a miracle, Ms. Dieu Loan began helping underprivileged students by collecting used books and empty cans, and coordinating with the school to organize fundraising cultural and artistic activities for scholarships. A major milestone in her philanthropic journey was in 2018, when she, along with 86 outstanding young people nationwide, received the Ly Tu Trong Award. From this group, a liaison committee was established and carries out annual volunteer projects.

Beyond her teaching hours, Ms. Dieu Loan proactively seeks out and connects with organizations and philanthropists to help underprivileged students. From the vast Tây Nguyên highlands, fate led her to the Charitable Hearts Fund in Hanoi . Since then, she has mobilized numerous resources to build and renovate 12 classrooms, many restrooms, schoolyards, playgrounds, and a clean water system… These projects not only have material value but also nurture hope for many generations of students.

In addition, from 2023 to the present, she has mobilized donations of thousands of textbooks, comic books, and notebooks, donated a library with over 600 books, and hundreds of gifts, bicycles, scholarships, phones, and laptops to poor students in the area.

In particularly difficult circumstances, teacher Dieu Loan doesn't stop at providing immediate support but always seeks long-term assistance to give students the opportunity to thrive. Thanks to her connections, she has supported a medical student for five years with a total of over 60 million VND; donated a pair of cows worth 18 million VND to a poor family with many children to help them develop their economy ; and mobilized resources to build four houses for orphaned students in the area, helping them stabilize their lives. She also regularly visits and gives gifts to families of policy beneficiaries and those who have contributed to the revolution.

Recently, after Siu H' Suyn (whom Ms. Dieu Loan was the homeroom teacher for) achieved top scores in both the C00 and C03 subject groups and the highest graduation score in the entire school, Ms. Dieu Loan raised over 48 million VND to help the orphaned student have better opportunities to enter university.

Sharing her joy in the process of volunteering, Ms. Dieu Loan said: "What makes me happiest is that the students I helped still regularly check in, express their gratitude, and wish to continue our volunteer work after graduation. Many of them who stayed in their hometowns have also found stable jobs."
