According to initial information, Mr. Dang Van Phong (born in 1983, hometown in Thanh Xuan commune, Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong ; residing in Vinh Loc A commune, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City).
Some people gave him the nickname "Dharma protector Kim Cang" and followed Mr. Le Anh Tu - a self-taught monk with the dharma name Thich Minh Tue.
At the authorities, Mr. Dang Van Phong said he did not live regularly in Thanh Ha, Hai Duong province, but occasionally returned to his hometown and stayed at the house of his two brothers, Dang Van Kieu and Dang Van Hai.
On June 19, he and some friends went to a coffee shop in Thanh Ha town to have a drink.
After that, he dressed like the monk Le Anh Tu (Thich Minh Tue) and went to Huong market in Thanh Ha town to buy fruit, then went to the martyrs cemetery in Thanh Ha district to burn incense.
The movement of Mr. Dang Van Phong in the same outfit as Mr. Le Anh Tu made many curious people gather, take photos, record clips and post them on social networks to "get likes", causing misunderstandings, causing bad public opinion and possibly leading to the risk of losing security and order in the locality.
At the authorities, Mr. Dang Van Phong affirmed that he did not go begging and only practiced at home; did not sell products online, and did not "attract views and likes" on social networks.
He also requested that the authorities strictly handle those who spread false information about his alms-seeking activities, affecting civil rights and private life.
It is known that before that, Mr. Dang Van Phong and some others followed Mr. Le Anh Tu (Thich Minh Tue) on foot to beg for alms.
