"We are both children, why do you take so much?"

The compensation of 4 billion VND from the house left by his parents became the "fire" that ignited the conflict in the Ma family. The eldest brother took most of the money and bluntly challenged his younger brothers: "If you don't accept it, sue!"

The origin of the conflict

The Ma family in China had four sons. From a young age, the eldest son, Ma, shouldered the responsibility of the eldest son. At the age of 10, he started working for hire to help reduce the economic pressure on his parents.

He sent all the money he earned back home to help his parents raise his three younger brothers. Every Tet, he also gave his younger brothers extra pocket money, so the image of the eldest brother always held a special place in their hearts.

After more than 20 years of wandering abroad, seeing his parents getting old and weak, and needing someone to support them in the countryside, the eldest brother Ma decided to request a transfer back to his hometown. He moved into his parents' house and lived with them to take care of them.

After growing up, the four Ma brothers all had their own families but still visited their parents regularly, so the relationship between the brothers was considered close and harmonious.

Compensation money is not divided equally, brothers sue the eldest brother

When his parents passed away, the eldest brother Ma no longer needed to take care of them. So he and his wife bought a new house and moved out. He rented out the old house, and the monthly income would be divided equally among the four brothers.

However, after the house was compensated with 1,150,000 NDT (about 4 billion VND) for land clearance, the eldest brother Ma wanted to take 1,070,000 NDT (more than 3.7 billion VND), leaving 80,000 NDT (more than 280 million VND) for his three younger brothers to divide.

Believing that the eldest brother Ma had not maintained his previous friendship, the three younger brothers decided to sue him in court, demanding that the compensation be divided equally.

In court, the eldest brother Ma explained why he divided the money like that. According to him, this division was completely reasonable, because:

1. Since he was young, he earned a lot of money to help his parents, and when he built that house, he also contributed a large part of his money.

2. His three younger brothers had all been given houses, so this house was the part his parents left him.

3. The original house was only 18 square meters wide. After he returned from working far away, he spent money to build an additional 60 square meters. This additional area was included in the total clearance area, so the new compensation amounted to 1,150,000 yuan.

However, the three younger brothers completely disagreed with the eldest brother's reasoning, they thought that he had confused obligations and rights. According to the three brothers, the decision of their parents to divide the house for them was their parents', the eldest brother had the financial ability, it was normal that he was not given the house.

They also emphasized that the compensation was based on the original house that his parents left behind. Without the original house, the area that Ma's eldest brother built on would not be compensated.

After the trial, the court concluded that the house belonged to the father. However, because their father died without leaving a will, the house was considered an inheritance and had to be divided equally among the four brothers.

This ruling made the eldest brother Ma unhappy, refusing to accept the equally divided money. Therefore, the three younger brothers were forced to invite a mediator to resolve the matter.

Final agreement

When meeting with the mediator, Mr. Ma did not hesitate to criticize his three unscrupulous brothers. He emphasized that without his past contributions and sacrifices, his brothers would not have been able to have the life they have today.

Elder Ma said that in the compensation, there was actually 200,000 yuan (nearly 700 million VND) in compensation for his personal injury.

Currently, his health is not good anymore, he has lost the ability to work, so he wants to leave some money to his wife and children. He also affirmed that, if he had not built an additional 60m², the compensation amount would never have reached this level.

What made the eldest brother Ma most indignant was the youngest brother's ingratitude. Previously, when the youngest brother wanted to transfer the ownership of a house from his parents to his name, the two middle brothers both objected.

He was the one who persuaded them to let his youngest brother have a house. Yet now, this younger brother is the one who strongly opposes the property dispute.

The youngest brother said, each job has its own purpose, the things the eldest brother has helped him always kept in mind, but money between brothers should be clear. This house was not given to anyone by the parents, now it needs to be divided equally among the four brothers.

The two middle brothers also agreed and criticized the eldest brother's actions. They said: "What the eldest brother did was wrong! Before, when our household registration was still at our maternal home, and our maternal home was demolished, we did not keep any part for ourselves but divided it equally among ourselves.

Furthermore, under the witness of his parents, the whole family had signed an agreement that if his parents' house was ever demolished, it would be divided equally. Now the eldest brother is going against that agreement, isn't that a broken promise?

Faced with the evidence presented by his two younger brothers, the eldest brother Ma finally gave in. The three younger brothers also took a step back, agreeing to let the eldest brother take back the 80,000 yuan construction cost of the 60 square meter house and the 200,000 yuan compensation for injuries. The remaining 870,000 yuan (about 3 billion VND) would be divided equally among the four brothers.

Public reaction: Who is right, who is wrong?

The incident has attracted the attention of many people. Some people commented that the eldest brother should receive 80% of the property, without his care, the younger brothers would not have what they have today. Moreover, the original house was only 18m², and the increase to 60m² was all thanks to the eldest brother's efforts, so logically he should receive a larger share.

Some netizens said that the eldest brother was wrong for not respecting the agreement.

On the contrary, someone expressed: "After dividing the property, the family relationship is broken! Can't the younger siblings give this house to the older brother?"

It can be said that this family's story truly reflects the reality of life. Many families are originally harmonious, but after dividing property, conflicts arise and family relationships are broken.

This story needs to be viewed with sympathy and understanding. Because the "big brother" of the past and the "big brother" of the present, as well as the "younger brothers" all have to make changes to keep up with the reality of life.

In the past, brotherly relationships were often tied to personal interests. But today, each person not only represents himself but also carries the responsibility of a "family" behind him. Even if brothers can easily talk to each other, the pressure from each person's small family makes things more awkward.

Therefore, the best way is for both sides to balance between feelings and benefits. When love and benefits exist, everything can be complete.
